This part works with the following brands: GE, Hotpoint & Kenmore.
This part fixes the following symptoms:
I found that I did not have the strength to stretch the new spring enough to install it initially. Using a 1/8 or 5/32 inch allen wrench I removed the pivot for the arm that the spring applies tension to. This allowed the spring to be easily attached to the hole in the arm and to the post in the bottom of the refridgerator. I then used a small pliers to grab the arm in front of its pivot hole and pull it against the spring into position to replace the pivot. Replacing the filter was surprisingly easy. I turned the water supply valve off under the sink and easily unscrewed the old filter (about a quarter turn). I filled the new filter with water and srewed in in. No wrenches required. I turned the water back on under the sink and everything works great!

Simply replaced the 4 screws and slid the drawer back in place. Easy and saved a service call.
Moved stuff out of my way on the top shelf, reached in and turned old filter to remove. Filled new filter with water, lined up and turned to lock in place. Whew, never thought I would get that job done. :-)
Turned the old filter loose, removed the adapter from it, put the adapter on the new filter and turned the new filter back into place.
I had a buddy come over that is a bit more mechanically inclined than myself come over to install it. To remove the old part and install the new one was not difficult to do. I could have done it.I would also suggest to check the Defrost Heater in the Freezer. We replaced both to be sure. So far Fridge working AOK, saved $$$ doing it ourselves.
I only had to remove the old filter and install the new one - all by hand. I then ran about 1 to 1and1/2 gallons of water through the filter to clear it. A WORD OF CAUTION - HOLD YOUR GLASS CLOSE TO THE WATER DISPENSER FOR THE INITIAL FILLING - IT WILL SPIT UNTIL THE AIR IS PURGED FROM THE SYSTEM!!! An extremely easy repair.
We didn't think the dispenser problem was related to the filter - we were wrong! It took less than two minutes, including opening the box and unwrapping the filter. I'll definitely be changing my filter more often - and buying it through PartSelect. Your ordering was so easy and delivery was unbelievably fast!
I unplugged the unit and removed the modeling around the beverge center on the exterior door. At this point I was able to remove the face place to the icemaker and gain access to the ice maker doors csrews. I unscrewed them and replaced them with the new part and reassembled in the reverse order. Generally an easy fix for a poor design for novice handy man/women...
Unplug Fridge unscrew rear compartment where main board was located, unfastened old board.Unplug one wire harness from the old board and fit on the new board, repeat until the new board was wired, secured new main board to fridge. ****Manually defrost freezer before restarting. **** WAY LESS THAN THE PRICE OF A REPAIR VISIT.
reconnect the water tube with the union connector.take out the old water filter and put the new one in.it is very easy.
replaced the water valve, valve does work but still no water to dispenser problem inside door
My water filter was a breeze to install. Just push up and to the right and it locks right in. As for the Water Dispenser light. Just screw it in!!
Unscrewed old cartridge, ordered new cartridge, installed new cartridge by following very simple instructions. Took only one day for part to arrive from PartSelect although I paid for cheapest shipping, which was "ground." I was amazed!
I watched the video, and noticed that they did not even turn off the water. The replacement took less than 30 seconds once the filter was filled with water.
