This part fixes the following symptoms:
After taking Ice Maker's ice collection container out, I noticed that the plastic cup drive was broken. I did a websearch for repair and replacement parts for our GE refrigerator. I found PartSelect website easy to navigate and find the replacement part necessary...and placed an order.Once I received the shipment, I placed the Cup Drive into position and used the flat edge of a knife to allow the Cup Drive to slide into the tight-fitting position necessary. After positioning into place, I placed the ice collection bin back into the freezer...turned the ice-maker back on...and waited for ice to be made. A day later, the ice maker had produced enough ice to test the ice maker's dispensing mechinism. The cup drive worked perfectly...and ice began to be dispensed. The dispensor has been working ever since. I also replace the ice and water filter...another very easy task...of unscrewing the old and replacing with the new filter. After replacing the filter, I let the water dispensor run for 2 minutes to flush all air out the system. The water dispensor work perfectly.

Just fit into place / no tools needed / took less than 2 min. To do both jobs . . .
Unscrew old filter and remove(counterclockwise). Line up arrow on new filter with arrow on connection housing. Turn clockwise till resistance met. Do not overtighten. Follow directions. Simple.
So there's a plastic water tank in our fridge, its purpose is to chill water so it's nice and cold when you dispense it from the freezer door tap. Long story short, during out kitchen remodel I stored the fridge in our unheated Wisconsin garage. The leftover water in the tank froze, expanded and ruptured it. Got the replacement, super easy to fix. The tubing connections are shark bite, just press them together and they're water tight. Pretty simple plug and play operation but you do have to pull the fridge all the way from the wall and shut off the water supply.I replaced the filter too, just incase the freezing water messed with it in some undetectable way.
First turned water source off and unplugged fridge. Then removed back panel, turned water supply back on and saw leak from valve. Turned water off again and ordered new valve. Paid for 3-5 day shipping, but it came next day! Removed single bolt holding bracket it place. Simple firm pull release of water lines feeding from valve. Unscrewed brass water supply nut with crescent wrench. Marked four electrical leads so I'd know where to replace them. Then repeated process in reverse to install new valve. Simply push water lines back into color coded valve outlets.Also replaced water filter and found that the GWF Filter is now the MWF fitler.
1st symptom, water dispenser not working.2nd symptom, carrots freezing in fridge lower drawer.3rd symptom, 3 days later, freezer getting warmer and warmer, fan always running, back of inside wall of freezer building up with ice.Originally changed water valve for dispenser thinking it was the only problem.After noticing the freezer getting warmer and doing some reading, I decided the best guesstimate would be the defrost thermostat or heater behind the inside freezer wall. Defrosting all that ice to get behind the wall is the time consuming part of this job. Not wishing to defrost and troubleshoot to determine which component failed, they are cheap enough to just buy both the heater and t-stat and replace both and be done with it. It turned out to be the heater, an element encased in glass, the glass turns black on the ends when it is toasted. This is a very easy fix. If you do not have crimpers for the butt connectors for the 2 wires for the t-stat, you can use a wire nut to twist them together and seal it with silicone/rtv. The heater just plugs in on both ends. Remember it is glass and very delicate, take your time. Start to finish this could be a 3 hour job, but most of that time is melting the ice, cleaning up and putting everything back in the freezer.
Since it was making ice I new there was water getting to the water valve on the fridge. I found the water valve on the back of the fridge, put a voltage tester on the water dispenser side of the valve, had someone push in the dispenser flap on the front of the fiidge and found there was 120v. That told me that the switch was good and pretty confident that the valve was bad.Upon reeceiving the replacement valve I removed both electrical leads on the valve remembering witch side goes to which, turned the water line off, removed the water lines, matched them up to the new one, plugged the leads back in on the valve, turned water back on and tested. There will be a little air in the lines, but once that is out the water will flow at a steady stream.
Pulled the ice/water control panel off using the three holes under the lip. Pops off pretty easy. Next came 4 screws holding the chute for the ice. Two bottom screws were very rusty, top two look brand new. Watch the wires. Replace the solenoid assembly by unplugging wires leading to the board, then removed the plunger over the top of the hook on the far right. Went ahead and replaced the dispenser door assembly or flapper. Plugged refridge back in and pressed the ice dispenser handle and listened for the solenoid to cycle. Perfect. There is a little delay before you hear the flapper fall into place. Saving rest of parts just in case they are needed next time.Thanks to everyone who wrote in to show how easy it would be. No telling how much a repairman would have charged me.
Pulled the washer out and removed the insulation, took old rollers and brackets off, switched out gaskets and put the new ones in
unscrewed old filter by hand, installed new filter.
I ran the dishwasher with the door slightly open by wedging a piece of plastic in the door slot, so the machine thought the door was closed. after this i noticed that the water coming into the washer was very slow. i the taken the front panel off the bottom. which gave access to the main inlet valve. Bit akward as very little space. Anyways i figured that the water wasnt enough and so i put two warm pots of water in. straight away the jet came on and spraying the dishes. ithen checked the pipe to see if blocked or bent. and so after that i knew it was the valve.(( so one last test after the valve was off i turned the water supply on (making sure a caught the water) to see if there was enough pressure in the pipe also. and there was plenty)). Easy to undo the valve- but as i said you may need to lye on the floor if it is fitted in. (ps make sure you turn of the water first) undo the flexi pipe with plyers and slide off (should be a squeezable ring). unclip the two wires remembering which colour go on top and bottom- then twist the valve off..BUT make sure you support the pipe behind- else you may break it or crack it, if the valve is hard to unscrew. then simply replace with the new valve(apply two rounds of water tape-just incase) and once aligned up as before clip the pipe back on making sure there are no kinks in the pipe-and then replace the two wires. (Test the machine before closing up) Finally place all fitting to the dishwaher and you're ready to go!!! saved tons of money with this fix. only issue was that the valve was slightly different and the offset was 90degrees off...(not an orginal part..) but hey it works!!!
Just popped the parts right on. Great site, found what I needed right away,
Super simple... removed pnl in back connected the splice, added the new house, replaced the clip in the Ice Maker Tray....
Firet removed old filter, Installed new adapter, then installed new filter. used pump pliers to insure tightness to avoid leaks
opened refrigerator door located water filter location in right back corner unscrewd 1/2 turn and out it comes without shutting off water it is a snap to do by anyone and shipment was really quick thanks. People do not call a service tech for something this simple even a child tall enough can do it.
