Drum Bearing Slide - White

open door, remove two screws from below the top. gently remove the top from the side and bottom panels. remove two 5/16 screws from front panel hold panel so it does not fall. the bearing assembly will come out by moving the bearing towards the dryer, and pulling upwards. replace with new bearing, use 4 front dryer slides and reinstall the top and front panel. can be done in less than 15 minutes

Disconnect Power from the Dryer
Remove 2 screws that held the top on the dryer.
Removed the 2 screw that held the front on the dryer.
Unsnap bearing from front panel. Snap new bearing in place
and reassemble. Turn power back on.

When ordering drum bearing also order 1 set of Front Dryer
Drum Slides and 1 set of Drum Slides. You need both. Also
you should probably check the rear bearing. This would save
you time and shipping. I didn't and it cost me another
shipping charge as well as a couple of extra days downtime.

I first unplugged the unit, opened the top, disconnected and took off the control panel, took off the front panel to determine the source of the squeaking noise coming from the Dryer. I saw that 3 of the 4 Front Drum Glides were gone and the drum had worn away significant amounts of plastic from the Top Bearing Assembly. I purchased the Top Bearing Assembly and a set of 4 Front Drum Glides. Disassembled the damaged parts and reassembled with the new replacement parts. The reassembly took less than 20 minutes. I plugged in the Dryer and viola! It works as good as new.

A very easy fix. Opening the front door to the dryer locate two chrome phillips head screws in the upper part of the door opening which hold on the top of the dryer. (I think in the older dryers the top simply was held on with keepers and you could simply pry it off. Not the case here)Lifting up on the front of the top it comes away from the back control panel. I would recommed that the control panel be removed as it is necessary to remove it to put the dryer top back on due to three clips that wont allow you to put the top back down with the control panel in place. It takes a star wrence to remove it. Once the top is off ther are two phillips screws holding the front of the dryer on (one on each side) remove them and the whole fron lifts up and off. The drum rides on a plastic schroud attached to the dryer inside front. Mine was so worn it required the purchase of the entire assembly which comes in two parts. The upper part had worn away so badly the drum was riding on the metal causing the noise. I ordered both the upper and lower assembly and both just simply snap off and the new ones snap right back on. No tools. I was a bit dissapointed as I assumed that the felt which is located in the lower assembly would come with the new part however it did not nor did some plastic tabs which the drum rides on in the upper assembly comes with the replacement part. It takes four of those tabs so order appropriately. Went back together easily and the whole job was done in about 40 minutes.

Our gas GE "Eterna" King Sized capacity dryer started squeaking one day. I was suprised since the dryer was only a few years old, but assumed some grit had invaded and worn a bearing in the belt tensioner. My wife and I have three kids, so we use the dryer daily. The sound got louder quickly and finally it was so loud I had do something. After unplugging the appliance I took the top off the dryer (two screws in the top of the door jam) and the front off (two screws at the top of each corner) and in doing so saw that the drum bearing, which is just a round plastic
"shelf" on which the tumbler drum rides, suspended over the door, was worn through. There were four little "slides" on the bearing surface, and all but one was worn down to dust. I ordered the replacement bearing and slides (two white, I didn't know I also needed two green and have since bought them too) from Part Select and they arrived in about three days. In the meantime I re-assembled the dryer easily and we did use it once or twice, shrieking. When the parts came in I installed them in about 20 minutes, screwing the new bearing onto the rear surface of the front panel, right over the opening for the dryer door. The dryer has worked perfectly since. I used one Phillips head screwdriver for the whole job and paid about $50.00 for the parts. I work in an office and I travel, and when I was a kid I fixed my own cars and stuff, but I'm no appliance repairma! Nevertheless, this was easy! I assume I saved at least $100. The dryer works perfectly and more importantly, it's quiet again!

Dryer was making a horrible noise. When I took it apart I noticed that the from side dryer bearing was ruined. Ordered the part with the slide bars and replaced...Works great...

Worn out top bearing plastic part and worn out felt. Removed top part of the front where the dial and buttons are, then the top, then the front where the parts I was replacing were. It was overall easy and didn't require a cdertified repair person. These were parts that were worn out. I am dissapointed in the GE product. It is only 3 1/2 yrs old and already worn out. Poor design and poor quality parts. I will look at other brands next time when replacing the front loading dryer and washer. Overall a faril;y easy repair that most mechnicaaly oreinted person can do. Also thaks to partselct for the diagrams which helped tremendously with meticulous parts.

PULLED THE UNIT ALL APART TO REPLACE THE REAR DRUM BEARING. ALSO REPLACED THE FRONT BEARING. WORKS LIKE BRAND NEW. EASIER THEN I THOUGHT

I had never tried to fix a dryer before, but I checked your site and found detailed troubleshooting instructions. I found several parts diagrams that made me think it would not be too difficult. I found the GE Repair manual for my dryer and ordered it. I was able to determine that the sqeaking was in the front, and probably the slides were worn, as opposed to the drum roller. Whew! My daughter and I removed the front and checked them. They were totally worn away and the felt was crimped. We cleaned it up and ordered the replacement parts from you. When they arrived we made the repairs. One of the drum slide holders was too worn to hold the new slide so we applied a bit of super glue to hold it in place. My dryer is running quietly again. I am so glad for your online information. This was an fairly easy fix!

Remove top (2 screws) and front (2 screws), snap out old drum bearing, put new slides in new drum bearing and install in dryer. Reinstall front and top of dryer.

Drum was misaligned and scraping againt the appliance housing due to worn-out slides.

Replaced the drum slides 2 - white, 2 - black. Replaced the slide housing (front drum bearing?). This part was worn due to worn-out slides that were missing.

Cleaned out old lint from rear of drum and appliance housing. Put new weather stripping seals on the lint catch exhaust. Checked drum belt for cracks and checking.

Buttoned everything back up and dryer works as good as new. $60.00 for parts, 1 hour labor and the job was done!

Opened dryer door and removed two screws that held front of top panel on. Lifted top panel off and removed two screws that held front panel to side panels. Tipped front panel forward and replaced all four slides. Cleaned everything off and put back together. Works great again. Thanks for this site and for others that have done these repairs before and posted their stories.

Removed two screws to remove top to access drum. Removed two screws to remove front panel. Easily removed drum bearing and snapped in new bearing. 4 Glides were slid into slots. Only one problem. My service parts list called for drum bearing #WE3X37. I was sent #WE3M26. I was assured this was the right part for my dryer. Although the part did fit, I was unable to use the existing light because the the hole on new bearing was too small to accommodate it. Replacement of drum bearing would not be necessary if GE would put visible labels on dryer warning consumers of preventive maintenance of glides that wear.

I REPLACED Drum Bearing,Dryer Drum Slide AND Lower Front Felt Drum Seal AND EVERYTHING WORKS LIKE BRAND NEW AND DID NOT TAKE VERY LONG TO REPLACE ALL OF THIS PARTS VERY EASY JOB TOO DO YOUR SELF

This took less than 10 minutes to complete. 1) pull off the top of the dryer and remove the two screws that attach the front panel to the side panels. Once you pull the front panel towards you, away from the side panels, you can remove the front bearing. Be sure to be careful not to pull apart the wiring on the left side of the front panel. If you do, it is easy re-attached by hand. The front roller bearing of he drum can be removed by hand. Simply pull upward, with a steady pressure, on the bearing. It will snap out with this gradual pressure. The slide can be inserted by hand, with the two gray slide at 11 and 1 o'clock and the wite slide at 10 and 2 o'clock. The new bearing will snap into place by hand. Carefully insert the light bulb into the hole in the top of the new bearing whle snapping into place. The web site provides a good diagram that illustrates the various pieces and assembly. Once the bearing is in place, lift the dryer drum and set on top of the bearing as you re-attach the front panel to the side panels with the screws removed earlier. Replace the top by snapping back into place. Less than 10 minutes.
