Control Panel

Turned off the power at the breaker; took the screws out of the door panel; the control panel was already loose; I took the lock mechanism off the panel, and then removed the electric bundle panel from the control panel; the only thing left was the cicuit board, which I removed, and the wires to it were in a clip all together; I clipped the wires to the new cicuit board, replaced it in the panel slot, then clipped in the wire bundle; the lock mechanism fit right where it was supposed to, then I replaced all the screws in the door panel , starting at the top where the control panel was; I turned the power back on, then turned on the dishwasher- it worked just like new. This was a fairly easy fix for about $150; that would have been the service charge and time alone for a repairman, not including the marked up price of the parts. PartSelect was a lifesaver.

Unplug the dishwasher. Remove the screws holding the stainless lining to the outer door panel. Unplug the various connections. remove the control panel by pushing small plastic cleats outward (they are spring loaded). Remove the printed circuit board by pushing one holding tab to realase then tilting the board out. Remove the ribbon cable by sliding it off the circuit board. Now reverse the process. Attach the ribbon cable to new circuit board, snap in the circuit board to the control panel (ribbon behind), reattach all electrical connectors, reassemble the door "sandwich". Somewhere in there you also need to remove then snap back the door lock assembly. This is a simple repair with no fancy connectors or tools. Repair service wanted $400 plus two service calls (one to diagnose, one to install). My total about $120. I am a klutz re: repairs.

loosened screws, slid out black panel, removed (unclipped) 2 electronic panels and placed them in new panel. Unplugged, removed and replaced circuit board. Plugged in new circuit board. Slid panel back into position and fastened screws.
Now it as good as new...

Replaced the plastic control panel- need to remove the PCB's which can be tricky not to damage them
