This grille does NOT come with screws. This vent grille mounts on the top of the microwave above the door.
This part works with the following brands: GE, Hotpoint & Kenmore.
The grill is located on the top of the microwave - above the door. The plastic seems to have just deteriorated - the plastic around the screws just cracked. There was also another crack on the side of the grill assembly. The micrawave is fairly new (4 years old) and we don't use any harsh cleaners on the plastic grill because it has never required it. The unit is also vented to the outside - so it doesn't get exposed to alot of heat. To put on the new grill - it took 5 minutes, two small phillips head screws. My only question is why did the plastic just fall apart

It couldn't have been easier...two screws out, two screws in. Thanks to PartSelect the grille was available and they delivered it quickly. This saved me hundreds of dollars to buy and have a new built-in microwave installed.
I removed the two screws that were still attached to the microwave. With the new grill, I replaced the screws and the problem was resolved.
I just simply took out the two screws that were holding the grille in place and placed the new grille the tightened up the screws.
I lined up the new grille's tabs on the microwave'sholes, carefully pushed it into place, secured it with the two small screws I had saved and badda bing, badda boom, done and done. Perfect fit, looks great. Couldn't have been easier. Thanks.GE wanted over a hundred dollars for the same part.
Unscrewed 2 retaining screws from old grille and discarded old grille. Moved new grille into place and aligned screw holes and secured screws into place.
The replacement vent was a little tricky to line up and fit properly. After getting the grill in place I realized that only one of the two screws would work. The predilection hole on the vents left side was too big and the screw would not hold the vent. I have it up with just the one screw for now. It was such a pain to get in place I didn't have the patience to take it off.
removed grill to replace charcoal filter and noticed that the grill was broken.had to buy a new grill to replace broken one. new grill is flat black instead of shinney black but thats what happens when you buy with ge numbers. thanks
All I did was remove the broken grill and replaced with the new grill. It took a screwdriver and two screws. It looks 100% better.Thank you
Ordered new unit (should have been gloss black), removed screws, unpackaged new unit, installed unit with care, all plastic parts inserted into holes, screwed unit to microwave.
