The door latch handle within this assembly cannot be purchased separately. This door latch with the switches is a simple on/off mechanism that prohibits the dishwasher from operating when the door is open.
This part works with the following brands: Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Kenmore, Tappan & White-Westinghouse.
This part fixes the following symptoms:
I took out the four screws that hold the front plate on and removed the latch/switch combo. Two screws hold that on, so i removed them and disconnected tthe wires. Put new assembly in place, reconnected the wires and put it all back together. Case, and door, closed. By the way, getting my part from PartSelect was very easy.

I followed the previous repairers instructions. -Remove the screws around the door panel-Remove the door panel face-disconnect the wires-reconnect wires to the new Latch Assy-tighten the screws and reassemble the door panel.
Our dishwasher handle was broken and I stumbled upon PartSelect's YouTube video that described how to change the Latch Assembly while looking for a new dishwasher. It looked easy so I thought that I would give it a try. The hardest part of the installation was finding which circuit breaker shut off the dishwasher. That being said, our dishwasher was slightly different from the model shown in the video. When we unscrewed the screws on the inside of the door the top part of our dishwasher did not come off and fall forward as it did in the video. Our control panel was longer and continued beneath the front panel. We could not access the latch assembly until we removed two small screws near the bottom of the dishwasher door and popped the front panel off. Other than that it was exactly as the video showed. EXCELLENT service. I ordered the part and received it the next day. WOW. I would recommend this website to anyone who needs appliance parts.
Removed the 6 screws from top section inside door. Pulled control panel from front side of door. Removed two screws holding latch assemly unit and pulled 4 wires from connection. Attached the 4 wires to new door latch assembly and screwed back into place. Replaced the control panel and attached with 6 screws. Couldn't get any easier.Great service Quick delivery.
cannot describe because not good at it however I just read what everyone else did and it was a piece of cake.
on a U-TUBE repair sequence it showed removing the entire front panel of the door. With this Kenmore model the front panel is in two parts. The upper part where the controls and latch are is independent of the front panel so all I needed was to unscrew the upper panel, unscrew the latch, pull off the wires and reinstall by plugging in the wires, screwing the new latch to the door, reinstalling the panel to the door. It took about 15-20 minutes for the entire operation.
Repair was easy, except had to run to Home Depot to buy a special screw driver to take the handle off. Once this was purchased the repair was fast and simple.
