Broken water filter appliance
Literally turned off the water to the refrigerator, disconnected the lines from the back and took one screw loose from the inside of the unit. Slid out old filter connection and slid in the new one and did reverse process.

I believe that i broke part #959 by twisting the filter when installing the last replacement water filter. I cannot get the filter to seat at all anymore. I believe replacing part 959 will do the trick-is it that easy or am i kidding myself here?

Hi Jason, thank you for your question. The replacement is not actually very difficult. You have to disconnect the hose at the back of your appliance from the water inlet valve. Then remove the cover at the top at the back of the fridge as well. Once you have done that you should see a putty covering the hole that your water line goes into. Press it up a bit to make the hole a bit bigger. After that you go inside of your fridge. Remove your filter and the filter housing cover. Once you have done that you will see the screws holding the housing in place. Remove those and you should be able to install the new part. Good luck with your repair.

I believe i twisted my water filter while replacing it and broke the top teeth on the mechanism that hold it. Do i need to replace the filter manifold? Can i have the correct part number please. I want to verify. I see the note to a person called jason. Want to make sure these are the directions for my model also.

I am getting water to the upper and lower ice maker but the water dispenser only works 30% of the time to get water to drink. I have changed filters several times and it works long enough to flush the filter then quits until it decides to run again. Thank you

Hello Debbie, thank you for inquiring. If it is not the Water Filter, which is recommended to replace every six months, then it may be the Water Valve part PS6883668. We hope this helps.

The door ice maker and water dispenser is not getting water. When removing the water filter, water sprays out so it appears that the water gets to the filter. I have replaced the filter with an new one but the water is still not reaching the door. What seems to be the problem and suggestion to correct this conditon.

Hi Ray, Thank you for your question. If water is not getting to the ice maker or to the ice maker, you will need to check the water inlet valve, the dispenser control board and the door switch. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Replaced water filter on dec. 29th. It started to leak in the refrigerator last week. I replaced the filter and it still leaks. I am wondering if it could be the component the filter attaches to.

Hello Lori, thank you for your question. Yes, if the filter was replaced and still leaks, and has been installed properly, removed and installed again and still leaks, the issue is probably the filter housing which is PartSelect Number PS6447739. Good luck with your repair.

When changing out the water filter in our GE French Door Refrigerator, a small white stem fell out from the manifold, probably as a result of twisting the water filter when putting it in. Once inserted, the warning message regarding an expired water filter disappeared, the water continued to go to the ice maker, so there is plenty of ice, but no water can be dispensed for getting a glass of water. Is this solely due to a faulty manifold or different part?

Hi Jane, thank you for your inquiry. Based on our understanding of the issue, the issue is most probably with the filter manifold, part number PS6447739, to fix the issue. We hope this information is useful!

Hi Frank, thank you for getting in touch. We have found the instructions to install the new filter. These may not be of the same model but will help you in installing it. You may need to align the top of the new filter in the holder with the word front facing outward. Firmly push the filter in until it engages to ensure it is properly seated. Be careful not to twist the cartridge. Swing the filter back into place and close the filter door. We hope this information helps!

I twisted the filter to replace it some time ago. Now i noticed leaking from the filter manifold that has dropped down into the freezer. Before i noticed the dripping inside, water would pool on the floor in front of the fridge. Could it be anything other than the filter manifold?
For model number GFE28GMKBES

Hello AJ, thank you for your question. It may be the water tubing that runs from it, Tubing part number PS6447738. You may also want to check the Dual Water Valve, part number PS6011774. Here is a link to some information on our website for testing the Valve. https://www.partselect.com/Refrigerator+test-water-valve+repair.htm. I hope this helps and good luck with your repair!

I twisted my replacement filter when I replaced it a while ago. It works without leaking, but the replacement due message on the door never reset. It still says it is overdue for replacement. Is there any way to reset that or a part that will fix it?
For model number DFE28JSHESS
PartSelect logo
Hello Ann, thank you for writing. The correct Water filter is PS10063209. There are specific install information depending on the color of your model. Grey Model: Pull the bottom of the old cartridge allowing it to swing outward. Pull to free the cartridge from the holder without twisting it. To install the new filter, center it with the holder, making sure the word FRONT is facing forward and centered. Swing the filter inwards until it is positioned. Black Model: Pull on the bottom of the old cartridge to unlock it from the clips. Swing it outward until you hear a clicking sound. Now twist the cartridge one-quarter of a turn counter-clockwise. Pull it out to remove. To install the new filter, match the filter cartridge with the holder, making sure the word FRONT is facing the top of the appliance. Push the filter toward the back of the appliance until it is secured. Twist it clockwise one-quarter of a turn so the word FRONT is facing outward. Swing filter inward until it is secured. We hope this helps. If you need help placing an order, customer service is open 7 days a week. Please feel free to give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you.
