Overload was open
New part was similar, except contact blade was for a full 1/4", my model utilizes 1/8". So I cut the blade in half with a hacksaw, filed off the rough edges and reassemblied the connector; attached it to the compressor Now being a retired electronic engineer; who's great idea was it to hide a klixon inside the connector?

Why dose the fridge make a loud bang or crack nosies every so often?

Hi Julie, thank you for getting in touch. Based on our research, the defrost timer, part number PS11723171, can make a popping sound and may need replacement. The timer causes the heater to come on and often makes a popping or clicking noise as it turns on and off. A popping noise can also be heard when the evaporator coils on certain fridge models are cooling after defrosting. In this case, you may need to replace the evaporator fan motor, part number PS11749890. Another cause of noise could be a malfunctioning condenser fan motor, part number PS1957416, which may need replacement. We hope this information is useful!
