Burner eye would only produce High Heat on all settings
Ordered a new Surface Burner Switch to replace the failed unit. When I opened the burner lid, I could see the insulation on all the wiring for the burners had fallen apart and wiring was exposed. The wiring for all 4 burners was exposed as the insulation had deteriorated and fallen off over 80% of the circuits. It was just blind luc
... Read morek there was not a fire or an electrical failure on a grand scale. I replaced the wiring and burner connection assemblies as they also showed signs of age and deterioration. Had the switch not gone bad, forcing me to look into the wiring assemble, there very likely would have been an electrical fire. In a 220 volt appliance, electrical fires are a lot more excitement than I need.

Is this switch for an expandable element that fails to shut off with current switch. Burner stays on low heat. The diagram shows part 54a. This part is just 54. Our wiring diagram number is 318047001. As of now we shut the burner off via our circuit breaker. It was made in 1995. Serial number is nf53700941

If the indicator light is staying on and the burners are off, the issue is one of the burner switches and you will need to test the switches with a multimeter to see which one is causing the issue.
