Refrigerator door bottom right cam broke

Removed the door marking the top hinge placement prior to removal. Pulled the door the rest of the way off. There wasn't anything keeping it attached on the bottom right side. Turned the door upright dug out the old broken cam and replaced it with a new one. Thank you for your web-site. It saved us $$$ you have gained two new fans to your web-site. Snapping noise from bottom of refridgerator door bottom hinge.

First I looked up and called Fridgedaire. They were absolutely no help at all. No diagrams and no intelligent help.
When I found your site there was an IPB (Illustrated Parts Breakdown) diagram that helped me find the parts that I suspected as being the problem. When I found them and added them to my cart I found several comments from people who had the same problem and the same remedy to the problem. I ordered the parts, I could have got away with just replacing the door closure bearing, but I figured that the prudent thing to do while ordering parts and disassembling the door was to replace both.
I was extremley pleased with the parts service as within three days of ordering the parts they were at my home and the repair was completed.
The repair was very easy. Removed the items from the door storage, removed the upper hinge pulled the door, removed the door stop, replaced the door closure bearing reinstalled the pieces and then reinstalled the door. Piece of cake. Spent more time getting the tools together and emptying the items stored on the door then replacing the parts.

The main refidgerator door, made a cluncking sound

I removed the door by removing the top screw from the plastic cover, then slide it forward, then remove the two screws that hold the hinge on and then lifting the door off, once off the lower nylon hinge bearing comes right out of the door, the plate is removed with a screw driver. Installed in reverse order and cluncking was gone. 15 mins

Closure bearing broke

My hubby and I simply lifted the door up and out of the hinges and while, balancing the door on a footstool, took off what was left of the old closure bearing, stuck the new one up inside the hole and placed the door back down on the fitting. VERY EASY!

Door was not closing by itself

Remove housing over top of refrigerator door hinge. Held on by phillips screw. Then remove 2 small bolts on hinge with adjustable wrench. Hold door while removing these bolts to keep door upright. Remove hinge and then door is able to be lifted off of bottom hinge. Pull out broken pieces of old plastic bearing in bottom of door and slide new one in. Do steps indicated in reverse. Very easy to perform, 10 minutes. Door closes by itself perfectly.

Plastic hinge piece broke off bottom of refrigerator.

The most important thing to remember is to empty the door of all items. The following are the next steps: 1) Remove plastic cover on top hinge bracket. 2) Remove 2 screws on top hinge while holding the door so that it does not fall away. 3) Pull the door up and out. 4) While door is on its side make note of orientation of broken piece and then remove the broken hinge from the inside corner of door. You may need your pliers to help remove the broken plastic. Try not to push the old piece into the door. 5) Once the broken piece is removed just insert in same direction as the broken one was. Now reinstall the door in reverse and your done.

Customerjoseph from San Jose CA

The bearing-hinge broke on the bottom side of the refrigerator door, I suspect that during our move last year, the movers must have droped the door or hit the bottom on the concrete. The door became uneven with the freezer door and had to be lifted to get it to close.

I removed the refrigerator door by removing the two screws on top, I layed the door on it's side and removed 2 screws on the bottom to remove the broken part. I installed the new part, installed and tightened the screws. I then installed the door in place. It was an easy repair.

Broken cam on lower refrigerator door hinge

watched the video, ordered the part and handed it to my husband. He quickly removed the hinge cover and took it apart--the lower door bearing was tightened with glue which made it difficult but once that was out of the way, it was remove, assemble and back in business. Thanks for making it "do-able". C and D in New Mexico.
