Replacement of worn or broken parts

The wash arm parts were the most functionally important. These just snap into place. I was amused to see that the lower spray arm seal no longer even resembled the shape of the original part. My seal had worn to the shape of a thin fingering. The dish rack clips were a little more challenging. Snapping off the old ones was straightforward but figuring out the proper orientation of the new clips required a little thought. However, I like puzzles.

Water was coming out of the door.

I removed the bolt that holds on the bottom sprayer, removed the worn bushing, replaced the bushing, reinstalled the sprayer and tightened the bolt. It was that quick and easy.

Dishwasher made a squeaking sound when running

The problem was the water powered lower swing arm bearing (bushing) had worn out (had rubbed away part of it's flat surface). First I removed the large screw with the big flat finger grip flanges on the top side of the lower swing arm assembly. this assemble looks like a big hub cap. Lift the assemble up and off the attachment stem. The bearing goes on top and the seal on the bottom. Both just push in place with your fingers. Reinstall the assemble on the attaching pivot point that it was removed from and secure with the large thumb screw first removed. Spin the assembley to check for any binding. Do not over tighten the thumb screw. Water pressure is all that drives this assembly and it should always turn with no obstructions.

Dishes weren't getting clean

After looking at the sprayarm, changing detergents and washing every speck off the dishes only to have them come out dirty I decided to replace the sprayarm seal and bearing ring. I didn't really need the sprayarm seal, but figured I had come that far I may as well. It went really well and now I have clean dishes. I spent $26 on parts but a service call is $70 and I still would have had to replace the parts.

Lower wash arm nut twisted and broke off

remove the lower arm and pieces.. get the parts stacked in the right order and hand screw the retainer nut... done! I decided to spend a little more and replace the whole washer arm and I'm glad I did. My dishes are coming out clear then they have in years!! Ordered the parts Thurs morning... thought i might get a load or two done but when I opened the washer on friday it was obvious I was facing a weekend of teens having to handwash dishes! 15 minutes later the doorbell rang and there were the parts!! Woo Hoo!!
