Blower was rattling
Removed the front panel with by removing 2 screws. Removed the control panel bezel by removing 2 screws. Removed the control panel by removing 3 screws, and 3 wiring harness edge connectors. Removed front panel of dryer after disconnecting the door switch. Removed plastic ductwork from dryer. Removed front of blower housing. Removed blower lock ring, clamp and them blower. Installation is reverse of removal.

Living overseas and caring for a dinosaur dryer
My friend Saeed did the repair (which was really maintenance) for me. What I really want to communicate is how WONDERFUL it is to use PartSelect for folks like us living overseas and keeping alive an ancient gas dryer (not available in Morocco and infinitely cheaper than electric). We don't have a local Maytag parts dealer, so we feel lucky to have this option of using the diagrams to order exactly what we need to keep our economical and efficient gas dryer going.

Rattling noise

Dryer making noise
Our Maytag dryer was making a lot of noise..a rumbling that would continue for a few seconds after dryer would stop. Thanks to this web site, I determined it was the blower wheel. The plastic wheel "rounds out" over time, and slips on the shaft. Replacement was very easy...just keep track off all the screws and bolts you take off to access blower wheel...and make sure none of the wires from the front panel come undone. I saved myself a ton of money doing it myself...parts were abount 25$.

Blower wheel fell apart.
We also put a new belt and idler wheel on the machine, When you ave a soon who is a plumber, we had no problems, and thank you for prompt deliver of the parts..

Noisy dryer -- sounds like mack truck, sounds like shoes clunking
My dryer had two issues the FIRST: Sounded like a mack truck. That was a replacement of the roller wheels and pully wheel, they were worn down to their metal and that fixed that sound immediately. But then I was left with a sound that was clunky and sounded right at the beginning and made a big sound when the dryer ended. Turns out the blower wheel was completely worn down in the center so it wasn't gripping the metal rod designe to keep it in place, so it was flopping all over. TO FIX: UN PLUG MACHINE. UNSCREW the two screws in front and lift off front panel. Use a NUTDRIVER to unscrew the metal plate protecting the wires and then the front plate holding the blower wheel in place. USE E-CLIP WRENCH to undo the e-clip. USE NEEDLENOSED PLIERS to take off the retaining ring. TAKE OUT the wheel. CLEAN the entire area, wipe everything down and get rid of lint. REPLACE WITH NEW WHEEL, PUT ON NEW RETAINING CLIP and E-RING. Then put everything back together in REVERSE. Dryer runs more smoothly, shorter dry time, clothes are fluffier and it was simple, simple. FOR all the parts including this one I paid approx $50.00 total. That is still less than the fee for the repair man to come to your house just to LOOK for a problem!!!!! Also, I initially got parts from another store in town befor I discovered this site...they ended up having to order parts anyway and it was more expensive, this is the site to use!!!

Intermittent squealing sound ..getting worse
First of all I looked at the Video, which made it a lot easier. I decided to replace both rollers, the idler pulley, the idler bracket, and the belt so I should be fixed for a while. Installing the parts was not that hard. When installing the drum turn it by hand to make sure their are no binds, this will also insure the belt is not twisted and the felt around the drum is installed correctly. The hardest thing was getting all the panels back together with the right screws. Use a small screwdriver to line up the holes. Parts Select resources on their web site make it easier for the handyman to complete this repair. Parts were in Stock, at a fair price, and received in two days on normal delivery. I will use you again and give you a 10 on your service....

Noisy dryer
Our old dryer was making loud rumble noise while running. Was able to figure out problem by running dryer with front cover off. Isolated noise and than opened up blower and noticed wheel wobbled. The cool part was I ran a google search click on an ad (which I rarely do). Had such an easy site to use decided I would place an order. Placed order on Friday for ground and ended up getting order the next day on Saturday. Fixed later that night and wife says "sounds better then new". Save us $100's or $1000 (if I ended up buying a new one) Thanks - excellent site and service. Whoops forgot to mention video on how to fix (over the top).

The drum support roller had disintegrated and fallen off the roller shaft
I simply removed the retaining clip and old bearing and re-installed the new drum roller, washers and retaining clip. Fairly simple really.

The dryer was making a loud noise. I dos some research and took off the front and the noise was coming from the support wheel.
I first went online for instructions. I then went to home depot to find the part, but they didn't have it. They recommended an appliance store, called them and they were getting ready to close and wouldn't stay open 5 more mins for a customer- so I ordered from you guys. The part came on time and fit perfectly.

Dryer running cool, noisy.
First, you'll need snap ring pliers to do this job. Most DIYers may not have these, so buy them or call a professional.
I took off the front cover of the dryer by loosening the two screws on the front at the bottom. Then I took the drum out, making sure not to pull the belt too hard, and paying attention to how the belt was looped. It was obvious that the lint trap had been almost completely clogged, and the blower wheel had sheared off the keyway for fitting it to the motor shaft. I removed the cover of the blower wheel assembly with a 1/4" nut driver, and used the snap ring pliers to release the retaining clip and then the wheel. Reverse the process for installation.
I didn't really need to replace the drum roller and shaft, but I figured I might as well since i had the whole thing apart. The only tricky thing about that was getting a wrench onto the nut to loosen the roller shaft. I think it was 9/16".
A tip when putting the belt back on: it doesn't go in the groove of the drum, it rides along the top smooth surface. The job would have taken me 15 minutes less if I'd realized that before putting it all back together.
Dryer is now good as new. I can't believe the element hadn't burned out without the airflow across it.

Dryer rattled loudly, especially when just started
I removed the front of the dryer but simply removing the two bottom screws and pulling the front out. I removed four bolts to get the cover off the front of the dryer cylinder. This allowed me to access the area containing the blower wheel. A few more screws removed and I could access the blower wheel. As an amateur at this, I had trouble figuring out how to remove the retaining rings. I used pliers and just twisted them off. I should have used retaining ring pliers, especially if I wanted to reuse them. You must have a pair of these pliers to put the retaining rings back on. I was surprised that all that noise was due to a small crack in the blower wheel. After putting things back together, the dryer runs as quietly as the day I bought it.

Dryer was making a loud noise that seemed related to the dryer drum.
Took the dryer apart and found that parts were worn out and needed replaced. Ordered the supplies from your website and within a few day had them. Simply put the new parts on and put everything back together again and dryer works very quietly now! Did I mention that this happened Thanksgiving day and by the following Tuesday we were drying clothes again? Thanks for sending the correct parts!
