I stripped two gears to the power take-off at the head of the mixer using the meat grinder attachment.
I investigated the problem by opening the mixer (four screws) and examining the gear box. Two gears were stripped. I ordered them, using the parts diagram provided. They arrives in about two days. I disassembled the gear box, cleaning out all grease and inspected for further damage. The gears and housing were completely cleaned with solvent. The transmission was then reassembled and regreased with food-grade grease. The mixer is now reassembled and working well. I was very pleased with the price and simplicity of my repair, versus taking it to a repair shop.

Plastic gear housing breaking
Very happy to find that the new gear housing was metal, not plastic. The whole problem was poor design of plastic to hold metal gears. Removed housing held down by four screws, removed two gears that were damaged. Retaining ring was difficult to remove from retaining slot. New gears replaced the old ones, new retaining ring put in place, new grease packed into all gearing, new stronger metal housing put in place and the Kitchenaid industrial mixer is better than new. Very happy with the parts I purchased.

sat on the kitchen table and with a screwdriver started to disasemble the mixer, hardest part was taking snap ring off (easy after you buy snap ring pliers)as gears were lifted off noticeable wearing was present on all parts. the bearing housing on the gearcase was broken lose, the only major expense. the other parts are not expensive so i decided to renew all parts. glad i did felt proud of myself when job was done. would do it again Joe

Bevel gear, bearings and housing replacement
The parts I received from PartSelect were higher quality than the original parts. The bevel gear and housing were originally plastic. The new ones are solid metal. The machine sounds and runs better than it ever did. The drawings from the website made this really easy. This will be my first choise for parts from now on.

Gears ground when roller attachment applied.
Took screw off band. This revealed 4 screws to upper housing. Removed 4 screws and lifted upper housing off . To my surprise I found no screws holding gear housing cover in place. You could tell they were there at one time. Should be 4. I removed cover disasembled what was left of gears. Cleaned old grease ordered parts. Thought since there was only 1 screw on diagram it would ship 4. No big deal. After recieving parts further inspection revealed no screws holding motor in place. This blows me away. Anyway off to local hardware store for more screws. Got home slapped it togethere in 10 minutes. Ordered this off TV about 6 years ago. They must have had it in for repair and forgot to put it back together. All that aside it runs better than ever. Thanks much Michael
