Either to cold or not cooling. Then it would not kick on.

I did a little homework and decided that it had to be one of two parts. I purchased both parts and installed them. The tricky part was gaining access to the components. I snapped the front panel off and there were the screws. Voila, down hill from here. Read the instructions on the defrost timer assy. and installed new parts. Problem fixed.

I did find the parts later at another site a little less expensive but not with the support provided here. And delivery was fast. Repair cost was less than 100.00 so I am not complaining. Thanks !!

Freezer would periodically allow things to partially thaw out

First, I removed the two thermostat knobs, then the snap-on plastic cover. Then, I removed the 4 screws holding the housing for the timer, thermostats, etc., and dropped it down enough to remove the timer and the wiring harness going into it. Installing the new one was the same process, in reverse. Quite simple!

Refrigerator was freezing up and not cooling fresh food compartment

The repair was easy, I removed the cover on the top front of the fresh food compartment. It housed the defrost timer which was easy to identify and replace. Just removed a screw, unplugged the wires and replaced with the new part. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only problem. I also had to replace the defrost element that the timer sent power to. While I was at it, I replaced the defroster thermostat. The entire repair took under an hour, diagnosing the problem took the most time and effort.
