Quick and simple - quickest $100 I've ever saved!

Removed the two screws under the lint trap
Opened the top (had to use flathead screwdriver to release latches)
Disconnected door switch harness from front panel
Removed 2 screws holding front panel on dryer
Lifted out dryer drum (previous belt had broken)
Vacuumed inside of dryer (found $3 in quarters!)
Put new belt around drum
Put drum back in dryer, using empty laundry soap bottle to support its weight
Looped belt around pulley and motor; secured pulley to dryer bottom
Made sure rear gasket thingy was aligned properly and drum turned freely
Put front panel back on
Re-attached door switch
Closed top and put screws back in under lint trap
Fired it up - WOOHOO!

Squeaky dryer

I looked for squeaky dryer within parts select and went with the 80%. I received the Maintenance Kit, replaced two rollers and it works like new. Amazing since this is the first time I have ever opened a dryer. The instruction sheet and parts were all I needed.

Loud noise while drying

Followed simple instructions to replace two pulleys and belt. The Virtual Repairman helped me identify the cause in minutes. Took another 5 minutes to place the order and the part arrived two days later. Saved $125 at least. Thank you!

Loud rumble and finally the drum stopped because the belt broke

I opened the top and front of the dryer. 1st I pulled out the drum and cleaned up the lint and mess from the busted support roller. Next it was a matter of looking at the enclosed drawing and instructions. I could not believe it was that easy.

Clothes dryer got hot, but stopped spinning

got my daughter's boyfriend over.. he is like McEiver.. can fix anything with a bobbypin.... he told me what to order, you delivered it in 2 days.. and the dryer was fixed the next day. All it cost me was a roast beef dinner
Much better than that repairman who would have charged a minimum of $100 plus parts... at probably triple your cost...

Broken dryer belt

Took the two screws holding the lint trap to top. Used a putty knife to loose the clips holding the top of the dryer up so it could be hindged up for access. Used a nut driver to remove the four screws hold the front door on. Removed the lower dust panel, just clips holding in on. Pull the dryer drum out along with the broken belt and old belt tensioner. Took shop vac and cleaned lint and removed about $2.00 of loose change from the base. Installed the new drum supper wheels. Held belt around drum to put back in. Looped the belt through tensioner and around motor drive pulley as shown in instructions. Put front door on only to find the felt around the door had slipped making the drum hard to turn. Pulled the door back off and laid the dryer on it's back before putting the door back on , so you can run your hand around the door to make sure the felt go inside the drum. Put the four screws back in the door panel before uprighting the dryer. Sucess the drum turned freely. Put other remaining panel and srews in lint trap . Hook the dryer back up to vent, power and gas, and turned on the dryer. Runs like new!

Drum quit turning due to broken belt

Followed the included instructions in the Maintenance kit. Very easy to understand & follow. Only advice is to have an extra set of hands to assist in re-installing drum w/ the new belt. Entire disassembly & reassembly could be done w/ basic hand tools but went alot quicker using a cordless drill w/ a set of nut/screw driver bits.

CustomerRichard from Essex Junction VT

Low dryer heat even when on high setting, loud sqealing noise coming from the dryer when the drum was turning

The low heat issue was resolved with the installation of the new heating element. I first thought the squealing noise was due to worn out or jammed drum rollers. However, once I disassembled the dryer and removed the drum, I could see that the original rollers where fine as was the drive belt. The squealing was being caused by a very worn rear felt seal that had left a sticky brown residue on both the felt seal and metal case. I subsequently order the rear seal kit (felt seal & glue). I used acetone to remove the original real seal glue and made sure the surface was completely clean before installing the new seal. I had to hand stretch the new seal a bit to enable it to fit and I used masking tape to hold it in position as i installed it around the drum. Note that the glue is applied under the seal once the seal is installed on the drum. Someone's previous post suggesting the use of a detergent container to help hold the drum in place during reassembly was a big help as where the instructional videos on the PartSelect web site.

Rear drum seal and drum roller

The Dryer maintenace kit and drum roller kits were a great buy since the unit was 13 years old it made more sense to reapir the dryer once while I had it apart. It was easy to repair, the most difficult part was trying to get the belt back on the drum since it is awkward. The job took me about 45 minutes to complete and have the dryer back up and in service.
