This door closing cam kit is intended for use with the bottom of refrigerator and freezer door hinges. The cam helps with the closing of the doors and to keep them slightly in position when opened.
This part works with the following brands: Whirlpool, Admiral, Estate, Inglis, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Maytag, Crosley, Jenn-Air, Hardwick, Magic Chef, Amana, Caloric & Glenwood.
This part fixes the following symptoms:
Following the instructions on the site I removed the upper hinge cover and hinge(after removing the shelves from the door). I replaced both cams on the bottom hinge, reinstalled the door and the problem was solved. A couple of hints that may speed up the process: 1. On installing the door cam, I didn't get the holes in the door and cam aligned well due to a bit of interference from the metal tab on the door, so I temporarily inserted the upper hinge pivot in the bottom hole and retightened the cam. 2. I decide to re-align the freezer door . After this, the ice and water dispensers didn't work. Turns out the internal freezer light switch which also acts as a cutoff switch for the door dispensers wasn't being activated. Easy to adjust once the cause was discovered.

Simple read about three of the other peoples repairs, did the same and (PIECE OF CAKE)Only problem ordered the cam kit with shipping over # 18.oo and only needed two pieces to do the job. Should have ordered just the two cams and saved a lot of dough. But done and over with a happy camper (WIFE)
Removed the cover plate on top. Used a wrench and the nut driver to remove the three screws & the screw holding the grounding wire. Pulled apart the plastic coupling for the wiring to light the freezer. Then with the aid of a friend - lifted the door (with food removed from door shelves) off the hinge. This freezer had a water line which we didin't know how to disconnect so we were careful to move the door slightly away from the broken hinge, set it on a stool with one person holding the door steady while the other person installed the new hinge piece. Definitely takes two people (as suggested in the directions) to both lift and guide the door into place. Once it was in place - I reinserted the screws up top and tightened them. Then had to untighten them to get the door to line up as it should vertically - so I would suggest just lighten tighen the upper screws until the door is aligned and swinging smoothly. Then reattached ground wire and plastic coupling. Works great.
took all items out of the door, used a wrench to undue the bolts, pulled the door off and placed the new part on the bottom of the door. kept the other new parts that came with the one I needed. very simple
It was so easy I could have done the video. Many thank you's for saving me $79.00 in house call fees.... cindi
Just as shown on a you tube video showing the steps involved, except I did not need to drill and tap the hole in the door. Cam repair kit contained all the correct parts.Freezer door is still working fine so I did not need to repair that door.
Follow instructions from owners manual. top hinge first then move door upward and replace broken cam with new parts
I followed your on line video, that was a fantastic help. Easy as 1,2,3. I used the tools he recommended and followed his steps. I replaced the cam on the door and on the bottom pin, its works like new.
Your on line video was fantastic, it led me all the way through the repair. As they say, "A picture or video is worth 1000 words". I wish everyone had instructions like you. Great Job!!!
repair was easy. watch the video
I was quoted $212.00 by a service co. to make this repair. When I investigated online @ Part Select, they had all of the parts shown on schematics of each section of the refrigerator/freezer (side by side)with part numbers shown. It was easy to find the necessary parts. The cam kit came as a package for both doors and cost $12.00 plus shipping. Installation instructions were included. It took me an kour to make the repair. The hardest part was removing all the condiments from the shelves and remembering from which shelf they had to be returned. Net savings $200.00
Like most have stated this is a simple job. Nut-driver and six screws (on mine). Less than ten minutes. Like someone else said the hardest part was unloading the door.
I'v used you 2 times for repairing my fridge and clothes dryer. . . . . So far you've saved me over a grand by doing it myself. . . Plus your service is nothing less than astounding. . . . . Both times I ordered early in the day and I got both orders the next day. . . . . You guys are sure on the ball. . . . . . Thanks
I followed the video that you have for this part and it was very easy to repair. The video that you put together showing how to do the repair, made the job very simple, and your service was outstanding. What a great web site!!! Thanks
