This is a flexible rubber cover that is over the top of the sink drain. It keeps liquids and smaller food particles from splashing back into the sink.

This part fixes the following symptoms:
The splash guard for the disposer was deteriorating and kept falling into the disposer and getting chewed up making it even less reliable. I purchased two different 'universal' splash guards at the hardware store. Neither of them fit. I finally crawled under the sink with my eyeglasses and a flash light to find the model number. I searched for the model number on part select and received veery quickly. I just popped it in (less than a minute) and now everything is wonderful. Don't buy a new disposer (my wife wanted me to) buy the replacement part that is giving you trouble at PartSelect!

Purchased new one and just put into the hole.
What a snap just push it in and all is OK. Tried the generic one from Lowes didn,t work. This was great and cheap including shiping charge.
Removed old splash guard by pulling it up and out of the disposer then pressed the new guard in place. It was a perfect fit.
Removed used one and replaced with new one. Perfect fit no tools required. Suggestion: Always buy orgional manufacture's parts when possible. Then you know they will fit and work properly.
The repaire was so easy that it is hardly can qualify as a repair. I just pulled the old splash guard and put in the new. Thirty seconds and garbage disposer looks like brand new!
It was very difficult to find a splash guard to fit. Have tried at major stores LOWES and small Hardware stores. The people who worked on your Phone line helped me to choose the correct splashguard even though the model number did not match. I think the diposal was old. thanks for your help. It fit perfectly.
My order arrived in the mail in 2 days, I popped it in and it was a perfect fit. AAHH, what a relief not to have it fall in constantly!

The repair was simple. I removed the old splash guard and placed the new splash guard in. It took less than a minute. Absolutely no tools required.Quick shipping too. I had the replacement part in 2 days.
Trying to be pro-active, we logged onto this site and put in the model number of the refrigerator to see if there was a special light bulb that had to be purchased before we drove over to my Mother's to replace it. Our Kitchen Aid refrigerator takes seconds to replace with an appliance bulb purchased at a local hardware store. Her instructions say you must shut off the electricity, remove a plastic cover which was difficult to get off, then the bulb was an appliance bulb and not what was spelled out on the model instructions. We had ordered this special $5 plus $8 shipping fee which was ordered on the 14th of Nov and still hasn't arrived. After going to the hardware store and buying a $1.50 bulb we were done. We returned home and tried to cancel our order. Even talked to the manager only to be told that they could not cancel the order. I find that totally non customer friendly. Any retailer that we have ever dealt with has never been so inflexible. We were also told that we cannot return the part even though it will be unopened and unusable. To state on your instructions per the model number that you need this type of bulb when clearly it wasn't installed to begin with and then to refuse to cancel the order within 2 hours of placing the order and not even being shipped yet is ridiculous. Even the shipping email states: "Satisfaction GuaranteedYou may return an unused and uninstalled part in its original packaging. To return a part, you must first obtain a Return Authorization number by calling 800-366-PART or visiting our website at www.SearsPartsDirect.com. We must receive the returned part(s) with the Return Authorization number within 90 days of your original order date. Credit will be issued for the part(s) plus tax minus shipping charges. Your satisfaction is important to Sears." Every time we have had dealings with Sears for the last 26 years we have dealt with this type of crap. Whether it be employees who don't know the product or refusals to accept returns. Sears could learn something from Nordstroms. Personally, we will never buy anything from Sears again. We will also steer anyone we can away from making a purchase from Sears. I wouldn't buy from Sears even if it was the recommended buy from Consumer Reports simply because your customer service is the poorest we have ever dealt with and you never get any better. I honestly don't know how you stay in business. Even this email forces me to put in Splash Guard as the part used even though the part we ordered was a light bulb. I can't bring up that option. Figures!
Removed new guard from package and slipped it right into place, no problems.
Received the new splash guard within 3 days, took it out of the package, pulled out the old one and inserted the new one. No tools, it took about 1 minute. Very easy!
