Oven not heating quickly.
Removing the oven from the wall to rest on 2 chairs was pretty easy. After that, if I only had to replace the convection heating element at the back of the oven, it would have been a snap.

However, getting access to the main heating element on the bottom of the oven was really difficult. There were no instructions to follow, so one can only look at what is available for similar units online, but my attempts to remove the inner oven shroud on my 14yo wall oven could not be done without major bending.

So, I tried to get to the bottom heating element by removing the bottom of the oven, only to find there to be another layer and another layer, and then insulation that wrapped around the sides below that after taking off the sides.

By the time I finally got to the bottom heating element on my old oven, my patience was gone and I decided the jigsaw puzzle created by this vain effort was not worth putting back together. Better to opt for new technology.

While PartSelect is easy to work with, had I known this project was going to be super difficult, I would never have tried to take the old oven apart. Some engineer needs to be spanked over that design.

Lesson learned on replacing the lower heating element on a wall oven where the unit has to be completely disassembled, don't.

The money spent on freight, fees, and return postage will be chalked up to experience.

What do i need to take apart to install.

Hi Ronald, Thank you for your question. You have to remove the bottom of your oven. That will give you access to the bake element so that you can unscrew it and remove it from the appliance. Good luck with your repair.

The oven is not coming to temperature when the display says that it is. For example, the display on the oven reads 350 degrees but a thermometer inside the oven reads 200 degrees. It finally comes to temperature but it takes a few minutes. Is that a bake element issue or a thermostat/thermometer issue? Also, am i reading the diagram correctly in thinking the bake element is on the bottom of the unit? Eddie

Hi Eddie, Thank you for your question. If the oven is not heating correctly, then the issue is likely with the oven sensor, sometimes called the oven thermostat, and you will need to check it with a multimeter. When testing the sensor with a multimeter, the sensor should be tested at room temperature. You will need to measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. Replace the oven sensor if the reading is less than 900 Ohms or more than 1200 Ohms. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

My GE profile electric wall oven bake mode will not heat. Only convection bake works. Is it the bake element that needs to be replaced and where is it?

Hi Jeff, Thank you for your question. If the oven is not heating correctly, then the issue is likely with the oven sensor, sometimes called the oven thermostat, and you will need to check it with a multimeter. When testing the sensor with a multimeter, the sensor should be tested at room temperature and it should be unplugged from the oven. You will need to measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. Replace the oven sensor if the reading is less than 900 Ohms or more than 1200 Ohms. If the sensor checks out fine, you will need to check the bake element and the electronic control board as well as the wiring between the parts to see which one is causing the issue. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Hi, I have a double wall over and the top oven will not heat. I can set it to 400 degrees but the temp on the display stays at 100 and when I open the oven its not hot inside. Would this be the element or something else? Thanks!

Hello Neal, Thank you for the question. I suggest testing the Oven Sensor, PartSelect Number PS236398. Testing the temperature sensor probe on your oven is easy. With the sensor at room temperature, measure the resistance between the two prongs at the end of the sensor connector. The resistance of the sensor should read approximately 1080 – 1090 ohms at room temperature. Thank you for your inquiry, good luck with this repair!

Hi, I have the double wall oven and the top oven does not heat at all. The bottom oven works fine, no issues. On the top oven i have tried both bake and broil and the reading on the display shows 100 but the oven does not heat inside at all. Could this be the sensor/thermostat? Not sure what to check, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

Hello Neal, thank you for your question. Yes, that issue would be caused by either the temperature sensor or the electronic oven control board. Good luck with your repair!

This unit is a microwave on top with a oven on the bottom same problem as a lot of people turn the oven on but only gets to 100 my question is how do you get to the bottom oven to check the bottom heating element does the the whole oven have to be pulled out ?
For model number Pt970srss

Hello, Thank you for your question. It looks like your bake element should be right on the bottom of the oven. You would remove the screws and then the element will pull out. We hope this helps.
