Dryer was making a really loud noise

Opened up the front of the dryer. Saw that the belt was partially torn. Also noticed that the wheels weren't very smooth. So went online, found this website, measured the belt described with the one in the dryer after I took it out. Also replaced the drum rollers because they were worn down. Received the parts in 3 days. Immediately replaced the parts and sounds like new. No noise and works great! I'm happy and so is the family. Thank You! Why pay more for replacement parts at Sears.com or otherside when you can get them cheap here!!!

Worn drum rollers causing loud noise and cracked drum belt.

Unplug Dryer or turn off power to dryer at breaker box.

Remove lint filter.

Remove two screws at front of lent filter from top of dryer.

Pry up top at front corners to seperate top from front of dryer.

Lift front of dryer top and push backward. The top is hinged at rear and should be supported against a wall or step ladder after it passes vertical.

Remove two screws from top side of front panel holding front panel to each side.

Unplug wires from door switch.

Lift front panel up until it comes off retaining clips on each side panel. Set front panel aside.

Place block or other suitable object under front of drum to hold it up.

Locate idler pulley and motor under dryer drum.
With left hand push idler pulley up and toward motor to slacken drum belt. With right hand remove belt from motor pulley.

Lift and remove drum from dryer.

Vacuum lint and dust from inside dryer.

Remove triangular shaped retainer clips at the front of drum roller shaft.

Remove worn drum rollers.

If worn, remove triangular shaped clips from rear of drum roller axel.

Place new triangular clips on roller shaft. With screw driver force clips clear of groves at front of shaft. Slide clips on axel until they snap into groves in rear of shaft.

Slide new rollers on shaft.

Secure rollers with new triangular clips on front of roller shaft.

Remove old drum belt and replace with new belt. The belt was not broken on my dryer but it was old and cracked. I didn't want to replace the rollers and have the old belt break.

Place drum back into dryer. Make sure rollers are properly seated in grove on dryer drum and that seal on rear of drum is over the flange in the firewall.

Prop up front of drum.

Thread new belt between idler pulley and pulley frame. With left hand push idler pulley up and toward motor to give slack to drum belt. With right hand place new belt onto motor pulley.

Remove drum prop and place front panel into drum.

Lift front panel and drum a few inches to align with retainer clips at the bottom of each side panel.

Replace screws at top of front panel.

Attach wires to door switch.

Lower top and push down into clips

Replace screws in lint filter.

Thumping noise when drying

I removed the 2 screws under the lint cover and popped the top of the dryer up and back. I then unplugged the safety switch wire on the upper right of the front cover. Next I removed the 2 screws holding the front panel on and popped it off while supporting the drum. I took the drum out after taking the belt off it. One of the rollers had the rubber stripped off it. This was kind of curious since I put in a full kit including belt and rollers a few months ago. I replaced the damaged roller and reassembled. I will save the second roller in case it happens again. There is no apparent damage to the drum so I have no idea why the previous roller didnt last.

Loud noise from dryer - rollers gone bad

The part came quicker than expected. The repair was relatively simple, thanks to all the posts on this site. I was able to get to the rear rollers without having to remove the drum entirely. This helped. Overall, the repair was inexpensive and not very time consuming. Plus it gave me a chance to clean out the inside of the dryer.

Loud noises when running

Completly gutted every part of the machine, to put in the drum support rollers. Really wasn't that difficult. But you will need 2 people. One needs to hold the drum while one replaces the drum roller.

Dryer motor siezed up, from age and wear

Troubleshhot problem, used multimeter to verify current to motor. Once that i was sure motor was getting proper voltage, I used a meg-ohm meter on A/C motor windings and physically tried to turn motor and found that it was siezed. I then cleaned inside of unit inspected belt and drum rollors. Due to the cost of the items, I decided If I was going to replace the motor I should replace all moving parts, and install new belt. Everything went easy. WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE! was that the Parts people sent the correct parts on time the first time, with no hiddin charges. There web site should accurate diagrams of parts and internals of machine. I was really pleased and will use this service again. Thank you

Loud sqeeking noise while running

Removed the two screws holding the top. Popped the top. Removed the door wires. Removed 2 screws at the top of the front panel. And removed 2 screws from the bottom of the front panel. Pulled the front forward dropping the drum. Relaeased the tension of the belt pulley. Pulled the drum straight out. Removed the right roller. It was worn out. Placed the retaining clips inner and outer. Lubricated both drum supports with lithium grease. Replaced the new belt with the belt tensioner. Reassembled drum, front panel and top. Dryer runs like a Top now. Careful of the sheet metal edges very sharp.....

Dryer squealed as it rotated.

Take out the two screws the hold the lint screen filter compartment in place. Remove the two top clip retaining screws, and lift the top LOOSE and turn it a bit out of the way. I didn't find it necessary to remove the top. Unclip the two wire electrical connector at the top - front, and remove the 1/4 " screws the secure the front. Lift the front up and out of the way. Slide the drum belt off the tensioner and moter pulley and slide the drum out the front. Remove and install the rollers ( and its just that quick) and while your in there. Clean up a bit ... cant hurt right? Especially on and around the motor. Reverse the procedure but rotate the drum a few turns to properly position the belt. Total E.T. is maybe 20 minutes and on a 1 - 10 scale for "degree of difficulty ". This is about a 2. Save the money and do it yourself.

Dryer drum support rollers had worn out - drum dropped and rubbing.

I had already disassembled dryer to confirm problem, then I ordered rollers. Once rollers arrived ( and quickly I might add!) I replaced rollers and reassembled in less than 15 minutes - parts ordered were perfect fit.
Thanks!

Machine making loud scraping noise while on

It turns out that only one of the wheels was bad but I changed both. However, the real problem was the dryer barrel was rubbing on the housing of the motor. The applicance was used when I bought it and was obviously worked on previously and the motor was re-installed in the wrong rotation. I rotated the motor and that solved the problem. I think the cause for the noise is that, with age, and wear on the wheels, eventually allowed the barell to sag and rub on the motor housing. I did not change the belt, becasue the other one still works.
Thanks

Screeching sound from dryer.

PartSelect you have to have the best online customer service in the industry. No, I take it back. It's the best online service I've experienced anywhere. Period. Your online parts lookup showed me all the parts I needed. Nothing more. You have excellent installation videos which also came with the confirmation email. The percentage of repairs for each spare part helped me to accurately diagnose the problem. The dryer problem was in the motor bearings and not the roller wheels as I had originally thought. Smart idea. All the parts fit perfectly and installed exactly as your videos described. But the best thing is I got the complete order delivered in two days. Your entire end-to-end customer care is terrific. My wife is happy with the repaired dryer. And you guys made me look like a hero. Thanks again. Charlie in Napa. CA.
