Timer failed on dryer

Disassembled timer cover, replaced timer, everything was plug and play. Nothing more than putting the wires back on the new timer where they came from on the old timer. It had a couple of extra terminals, that simply were not used. Great replacement part, simple fix.

Timer wasn't working

We got a new timer, but it also did not work, so further checking showed that there was a fuse that was not working. We replaced the fuse and the new timer worked properly. Perhaps the trouble was the fuse rather than the timer, but we chose to just use the new timer.

Timer would not advance and shut the dryer off

Disconnected the power. I removed the six screws holding the back panel of the console. Located the timer and removed the two screws holding it in place. Pulled the tmer out far enough to remove the 4-5 wires while holding the replacement part to re-attach the wires correctly. Re-installed the timer, secured the back panel and turned the power back on.

Sadly to say, the dryer does the same thing with the new part. Need an ohmmeter to test the part.
