The wash cycle/on/off knob broke.
I used pliers to loosen the remnants of the old knob, then unscrewed it by hand. Then I screwed on the new knob, identical to the old one but better since it has a metal instead of plastic thread. Saved me a repair bill and waiting around half a day for a repairman to arrive.

Top part of cycle dial broke off
I went on line and found this great company and thank goodness because I was using needle nose pliers to turn the dial. I ordered the part and it was here within 5 days, I opened it up, screwed the dial onto the existing part and boom I was up and working again without having to use the pliers. I wouldn't do it any other way when I have a problem from now on.

Finding thr part: Sears Kenmore diagram was impossible to read. My SinL recommended PartSelec; It was an easy search with a picture of the exact part needed. The part arrived a few days later and the problem is history. Thanks for your great service

Original (plastic) timer knob, broke in half.
Was able to unscrew the nut, which was still on the shaft, with an adjustable wrench and screw on the new knob.
The part was available, shipped in two days and arrived in three!
Not only is this knob METAL, but a perfect fit

The selection knob on the washer broke, the threaded center broke off the outside part of the knob.
Used pliers to twist the broken knob part off the threaded stem, replaced with the new one. Easy, took 5 minutes. Was happy I could find a replacement for an 18 year old washer! Using vice grips to turn the machine on every time I did laundry was a less-than-ideal situation! Thanks!

Plastic timer knob came off in my hand.. screw was worn.
I ordered the replacement knob on line. Was relieved to read that the replacement was made of metal instead of the plastic (why it was made of plastic boggles my mind) It arrived promply and I was able to screw it on rather quickly. I am a senior citizen and was glad I did not have to travel to a replacement location.

Timer control knob (plastic) broke off
I unscrewed the broken piece remaining on the large screw on the dial, screwed the new knob in place, and I had a "new" washer! It was that simple!
