This part is located behind the control panel. It helps determine the level of water in the washer. As the water fills the hose, while tub is filling, it will push the air against a diaphragm inside the switch. More water that enters the tub, more pressure is applied against the switch.
This part works with the following brands: Whirlpool, Admiral, Estate, Inglis, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Maytag, Crosley, Jenn-Air, Hardwick, Magic Chef, Amana, Caloric & Glenwood.
This part fixes the following symptoms:
Disassembled the control panel and replaced the water level sensor, but not the hose - bad idea. It was probably just the hose. The thing tested fine for 3 fillings. I told my friend to watch it closely for the first couple of loads, because I thought the level was not consistent? - but she didn't. More water on the floor. Replaced the hose and it's working fine. Thank you.

I had read many sites describing the issue of water level being low in the washer. Many people had suggested that changing the water level switch fixes the problem. So I ordered the part from PartSelect.com and it came promptly within a few days.1. Disconnect the power to the washer.2. Pull on the knob that controls the water level and remove it.3. Remove the 2 screws on the bottom of the control panel.4. Give the front portion of the control panel a small yank and pull it forward, around and upward. (It is hinged on the top, so it swings out)5. Now you have access to the water level switch.6. Press the clip and turn the switch a quarter of a turn and it will come off the panel.7. Pull the wire connected to the switch and remove it.8. Pull the air tube connected to the switch and remove it.9. Use the new water level switch and reverse the process.10. Plug the washer back in an everything works great!

Removed the screws holding the control panel onto the washer. Removed the switch knob and then the switch (required unlocking a tab and then rotating the switch to remove). Unplugged the wiring connector and the water sensing tube. Replaced the switch in the reverse order and remounted the control panel. Test run proved the washer was working again.
