Agitator was not working cam dogs were broke off

Repair was quite easy, I followed the instructions sent with the repair kit, even thow I pretty much knew what to do because I had had it all apart to find out what the problem was. First took screwdriver and gently pryed off softner dispenser, pulled out cap and seal, remove agitator bolt pull up on auger, remove old agitator cam and replace with new, reassemble unit. the repair kit was received quickly from Parts Select and for what I feel was a good price, thank you!

Auger slipping/noise

Noticed a clunking sound in the washer, and got worried that I needed a new washer. I watched the washer in motion and noticed the auger slipping. I took the auger/agitator assembly apart and inspected the parts (dogs completely worn). Did a a Google search for my make/model replacement parts - and PartSelect popped up. I read the repair stories on my washer and purchased the Agitator Repair Kit. I received the kit four days later and began the install.

The included directions tell you everything. The toughest part for me was pulling the bearing down on the agitator cam - I just didn't want to break the plastic bearing.

No more noise, and the auger is working just fine. A quick and simple fix, and with purchasing the repair kit, I also replaced a couple other parts that showed signs of wear compared to the new ones.

No agitation

Removed liquid dispenser from agitator. 7/16" deep socket on extention to remove bolt holding agitator assembly. Assembled the repair kit into the old agitator, put new washer on bolt and installed. Took longer to clean the parts then to make the repair... Thanks for the great website.

Agitator would not push clothes down

Overall, the repair went very easy. About the biggest problem was figuring out how to remove the plastic cap which allows access to the long bolt which holds the entire agitator assembly the motor shaft. But once it was disassembled the rest of the repair was very straightforward. The repair instructions which came with the repair kit was very helpful.

Teeth on cloths agitator rotator dogs were worn off

I popped the top off the agitator assembly which exposed a sealed cap. I pulled the cap off with my fingers which exposed a 7/16 bolt head. Using an extension on my ratchet and 7/16" socket, I loosed the bolt and used a small magnet to pull the bolt out which released the agitator rotator. I assembled the kit as per instructions and inserted it into the agitator. It is important to line up the slots on the sides of the agitator. I replaced the bolt, the seam cap and agitator top. I did not use the replacement o ring as it was larger than the one that existed and would not fit. It took around 15 minutes total.

Won't agitate

remove the agitater cap, then the seal. They both just pull up by hand. Then remove the bolt. Take out agitater. Remove old dogs and dog cup. Reverse order to put back together. It is the easiest repair you can do to a washer.

Top agitator stopped moving

The "Agitator Repair Kit" worked perfect; it is like a brand new machine again. There was only one bolt to remove and the entire agitator assembly came out. Once removed, I separated the top corkscrew portion from the bottom agitator. The old dog-ear ratchet pieces were worn smooth and were not gripping the inner teeth on the upper portion of the aggitator so I simply replaced all the parts with the new ones from your kit and reassembled. In under 15 minutes, my machine was working like new!!! I cannot even imaging how much a repairman would have rocked me for the same repair.

Agitator would slip during heavy loads

The repair was easy in large part to the very clear directions furnished with the agitator repair kit. Pop the cap on the agitator by slipping a small screw driver in the small slot at its base. You then reach in and pull out an inner seal--it has little handles to grab...the toughest part is that it is a tight fit for larger hands inside the agitator tube. I thought about getting the wife to do it, but I finally got it. This exposes the connecting nut. You will need a socket wrench with about 8-10 inch extension to reach the nut that secures the augur (upper agitator) to the lower agitator. Then just follow the directions to replace the dogs, thrust washer, and sealing washers. Reassemble and use plenty of soap to lube the large inner seal, and be sure it seats firmly and squarely in the agitator tube. Easy job and runs like new.

Top of agitator would spin freely

This repair was really simple. The top of my washer's agitator was free spinning, the dog ears failed to grab. All you need to do is pop off the center cap and the cap in the midle of the agitator. Remove the nut with a socket wrench and an extension. Lift the whole agitator out of the machine and replace the worn parts. Put all back in reverse order and that's it! Instructions were included with the kit. Machine works like new.

A HUGE THANKS TO PARTSELECT FOR THE SUPERFAST SHIPPING. I ordered the parts one morning and received them the following afternoon ! That's Service !

The top of the agitator did not turn.

The agitator was already apart. I had to see what was causing the problem before I ordered the parts.
I must say the parts came in record time!! A big help!
I just replaced all of the washers, clips and caps, put the bottom part of the agitator and the top part of the agitator together and placed them in the washer- Put the new washer on the screw-put the agitator in the washer, screwed it down with the wrench-placed the new ring on the agitator cap-snapped it in place-then snapped the very top-fabric softener dispenser into place and was ready to do tons more laundry.
Thank you,
Sally Gipson

Top half of the agitator stopped working

I ordered the repair kit for my model, which came with everything I needed except some grease. I pried off the top cap, pulled the inside cover out, used a socket on an extension to remove the bolt that holds it all together and removed the entire agitator assembly from the tub.

I whacked the top half of the agitator with the socket wrench to drive it upward and separate it from the large bottom half. Pieces fell out, as expected. I spent a long time cleaning the inside of the agitator (it was nasty) and then reassembled everything according to the instructions. The instructions said to remove two tabs on the lower part of the agitator. I was nervous about it, but did it anyway and it seemd to have no adverse affect. I got some lithium grease out of my grease gun and lubricated the plastic thrust washer as the instructions said. The kit didn't include the proper grease, which irritated me, but hopefully regular lithium grease will work okay.

Reassembly was easy once everything was aligned properly.

The part that came off did not have a retainer for the 4 ratchet dogs, but the repair kit did. This is crucial for reassembly.

I wouldn't hesitate to do this job again. Instructions were pretty good, for a change.

Easy fix - and a whole lot cheaper!

Pop off the top cap, use 12" socket to remove 10mm screw. The whole agitator assembly will remove from here. Crack open the top agitator from the bottom, here you will see the replacement kit accessories. Simply replace with those installed with the new kit and you're done. I appreciate the replacement kit had a retainer guard the original didn't. This will give my Whirlpool washer another couple of years of service.

Thanks Parts Select!
