Water valve was leaking and the crusher cover was broken
Turned off the water supply to the ice maker and unplugged the refrigerator. Pulled the refrigerator out of its location and removed the back panel. Located the leaking valve and removed the valve once the water lines and wire connections were disconnected. Just a couple of screws mounted the holding plate to the refrigerator. Ordered the parts and simply put everything back in place once the part came in. It was very simple to identify the valve on the parts list and order. The ice crusher cover could be removed from the front freezer door, it is part of the ice holder tray. The tray comes completely apart, and was a must to identify the correct part on the parts display. Once the part arrived, it took very little time to put it back together. All parts were exact and the repair was very rewarding to spend a minimal amount of money and time completing.

No water from the dispenser
I pulled-out & unplugged the refrigerator. Removed the screws to gain access through the lower back panel. The water valve is on the left side as I face the back of the fridge. It has one screw holding it to the frame of the fridge. Once it is free, the main water hose is unscrewed and the two out-let lines were pulled-out. If your valve was not ruined prior to this, it is ruined now, as the lines will not re-seat. Then everything is done in reverse order. I did cut 1/2 inch off of the two lines so that they reseat into the new valve. Just push into the valve and they are good.

Water was leaking from the cracked plastic valve
1 unplug fridge 2 turn off supply line for ice maker 2 remove lower back panel of fridge 3 disconnect in and out line from valve 4 remove valve (one screw.) 5 disconnect power line to valve. reverse to reinstall. Very easy.
This valve is a cheap, poor design. This is the second one in 5 years. I replaced the first one because the line in the freezer would "drip" creating an ice dam so the ice maker wouldn't work. This time, the water dispenser on the front of the fridge has been dripping for months - finally the valve just dissolved and was spraying water all over the floor. It ran down into the basement. Keep a eye out if you have a GE fridge.

Opend freezer door and found ice everywhere from dripping ice maker. Even with power unplugged water was still leaking through so I determined it must be the water valve at the back of the fridge that had failed.
Unplugged fridge. Shut off the water supply valve under sink. Removed lower access panel at back of the refrigerator (six screws). Removed single green screw holding water valve bracket and pulled assembly out to access wiring and hoses. It is a dual valve as one valve is for the water dispenser and one is for the ice maker. Disconnected the 2 electrical connectors (one for each valve). Unscrewed the compression fitting for the water inlet with 1/2 " wrench. Then the two water lines on the outlet which are quick disconnects. You must push the ring towards the valve and then the tubing can be pulled out by hand.
Reattach everything to the new valve and install and its ready to use.

Water dispenser would not stop leaking on the unit.
First, turn off main water valve. Then, at the rear of refrigerator remove the rear panel exposing the water valve assembly. Cautiously, proceed by disconnecting the water hose and electrical connections. To complete the task, just worked in the reverse steps to exchange the faulty equipment.

Water running out of ice cube maker
After turning the water off, I removed the silver covering located on the left side bottom. The valve was connected to the frame on the left side. I removed the defective valve and replaced it with the new one. Everything was color coded and the hoses were different sizes, making it impossible to screw up. It was over so fast I thought I made a mistake.

Water leak from water line and value housing
Unplugged unit. Removed back cover plate. Used 5/16 water line. Cut old broken line. Used water tube union and attached new line. Removed electrical contacts. Note very easy removeand replace the red and white hookups. Next remove water line at the old vale with1/2 wrench. Hook up water line to new valve. Icemaker line was not damaged so I removed from old valve and trimmed the end. Really installed line to valve. Plugged in fridge and turned water supply back on. Check for leaks. Had trouble locatingthe 5/16 water line but found bulk. PARTS SELECT had the guest connector and the replacement valve. I received the correct parts and saved me $$$$. Plus my wife happy right before the holidays! !!,

Ice maker filler hose freezing and dripping water down back of freezer
It went exactly like the repair video showed. I removed the back cover, unhooked the water lines, unplugged the electric connections, and replaced the valve. That video made it super easy and it is now working like it should.

No water dispensed from door tap, icemaker ok
The problem was both the valve and a frozen slug of water in the supply line located inside the door. After replacing the valve, I turned the freezer to a setting of 1 and in about 30 hours, water flowed out the tap.

Ice maker not providing water upon demand
We bypassed the water valve and went directly to the motor and the water valve didn't affect the outcome, therefore the part wasn't necessary, we didn't open the new part. We will check out the ice maker itself to see what the problem, to order the correct part. Sorry.
