This single door closure cam is mounted on the door, not the hinge.

This part fixes the following symptoms:
I stacked three 2x4's that were approximately as wide as the door in length. This required lifting the door about 1/4" but it also got the weight of the door off the cam so the bracket assembly that the cam was attached to could be removed. I drilled out the rivet that held the old cam in place and like previous DIY's had to use a small bolt and nut to secure the new cam in place. Reattached the bracket with the new cam and that was it. The only problem was that the head of the bolt I used was not flat enough to allow proper clearance for the door to swing freely without feeling some drag and the wife noticed that immediately. I told her to wait until the weekend and I would again remove the door and file down the head of the bolt to allow the required clearance. After a few days of use, the door itself ground enough material off the head of the bolt so that the door began to open and close properly. So now she's happy, I'm happy and the dog is happy.

Since the cam riser was obviously broken I obtained a replacement.It also broke. The door hinge cam needed to be replaced also.To repair Remove the hinge cover using a #2 phillips driver. Than remove the Hinge using an 8mm socket. Turn the door upside down and, using an 8mm socket remoge the cam riser and the door hinge cam.Replace in reverse order.Be sure to inspect all parts and order all required.
took off the top hinge (one screw on the cover, and two bolts holding the hinge), lifted the door off the bottom hinge, saw that the riser cam had disintegrated. ordered the cam and the shim (since it looked like the shim was also going bad). when the parts arrived, I took the top hinge off again, took the bracket holding the shim and cam off the bottom of the door (two bolts), removed the broken riser cam. Attached the shims and the cam to the bottom of the door with the bracket, replaced the door on the bottom hinge, replaced the top hinge, and the door closed correctly.after three days, there was no condensation in the fridge, we decided that the gaskets did not need to be replaced.qed.
Was able to pull the door up to the normal position, then blocked in place with 2 2x4's. Easily removed the hinge assemble and the door closing cam, which had broken in two.bolted on the replacement parts in 10 mionutes and the door was a good as new: peice of cake!!!
I layed several small 2x4 blocks on the floor, then raised the door up from the hinge, using the small pry bar. Then removed the the screws for the hinge. Removed the screws holding the door stop and removed the door cam. Then, I replaced the door closing cam. Replaced the hinge and screws. I Lowered the door on to the hinge and applied a little lubricant to the cam and job complete.
Took off top hinge, door came off, pried cam off of rivet on bottom hinge assy. used 2 pair of pliers to force new cam over rivet, add shims and another cam up on door.Put door back on -all done!
Turned off water to ref , removed bottom kick plate , got a towel and disconnected the water line plastic fitting and un screwed the (2) tube clamps un screwed the coupling and ((carefully )) slid out the tube from the compression ferrels ! ( Be careful and do not break or distort them + remember exactly the order they are removed ! Slid the protector spring shroud from the plastic tube , took ogg the top hinge cover then remover the top hinge . Carefully lifted the door off feering the plastic tube through the bottom hinge with my foot ! Got the door off removed the bottom hinge + put the new on on, then removed the door cam which was broken on the bottom of the door , lifted the door up and carefully fed the water line through the new bottom hinge . Attached the top hinge and reassembled the rest same as I had dissambled it . Turned on water ( checked for leaks ) ! All working 100% a-ok ! This company is the best ! Ordered the part at 1 pm and had the part at 2 pm the following day many thanks : )
First I took everything out of the fresh food door, then I removed the top hinge cover using a philips head screwdriver, and a nutdriver for the two screws holding the upper hinge. Lifted the door off the bottom pin, and placed it on the floor. Then took off the bottom hinge and used the Dremel tool to grind off the rivet holding the broken door cam on the bottom hinge. Used a nut and bolt to hold the new cam in place, and put the lower hinge back on. Then replaced the other cam on the bottom of the door itself, using the nutdriver. (Be sure to buy two cams, and have the bolt and nut to replace the rivet). Reinstalled the bottom hinge, put the door on, replaced the top hinge, and presto! Works great! Thanks to the others on this site for their stories - really helped make it an easy and quick repair!
Supported the door to allow removal of lower hinge. Removed lower hinge and cam assembly....and upper cam. Separated worn out lower cam from hinge, then removed rivet which holds cam. Installed new lower cam with small nut and bolt. Replaced upper cam with existing hardware. Re-assembled lower hinge onto refrigerator.No problem....works like new. You really need to order TWO cams.....there is an upper and lower cam that work together....both are the same part number.I do question how to do this repair on the freezer side. The water supply line for the ice maker passes through the cam. Any insight ?
Remove contents of door , Remove top hinge cover - phillips screwdriver , remove top hinge screws ( 2 ) - socket wrench , lift door off lower hinge pin , lay door on edge , remove cam retention screw ( 1 ) - socket wrench , remove broken cam , install new cam , apply vasaline to cam and hinge pins , repeat above steps in reverse . Door now self closes .
First we removed the door. Then we had to hammer the old part off including the old rivot. We fould a screw that fit and put this piece on. We held the door in place and screwed the hinge on the main unit.
I don't know exact details. My husband replaced parts while I held the door.We removed connections for the door on the bottom (propped up on books). We installed the new cam, the old one cracked and broke, and the new shim and the door is now even with the top of the fridge. It was not before, and the seal near the bottom of the fridge was not solid. Now it is. It was very easy.
taped doors shut.unbolted hinges at bottom of door,removed old cams,riveted new cam on hinge and replaced hinges. removed old gasket and installed new one. Not that simple. Must be lined up exactly or door will leak cold air.At factory they probably have door on a work-table. Installing it with door on is not easy,but better than losing all the food.
First I removed the top hinge of the refrigerator door and then lifted it off the bottom assembly. I had to turn the door on its side to work on the bottom where the broken part was located. I unscrewed the bottom assembly and replaced the broken part with the new door cam. Put it all back together and now the door closes but must be manually pushed to close. When the door was working properly it would shut automatically when released from any position. I think I need to install an additional part - maybe a shim? to make it close automatically. That will be another story.This was a fairly simple jog to do but since I did not have the proper tools it did take me longer than usual to remove the bolts. I'm happy I did it myself and saved a big repair bill! Thanks to the people at PartSelect.com.
