I am a widow, 70 year old. Ordered parts. They came very fast. It took less than Fifteen minutes to remove door and take off broken parts and put the new ones on. I am glad I have two doors on the fridge so I was able to lift it up.
Part no. Ps290199 received matched part no. Ordered, which I obtained from your web site, however, part did not exactly match oem part. It was necessary to drill a new top hole in each of the hinges. New hole center was drilled 1/2" off (lower) then hole in supplied part. Jpb could have been accomplished easily by the avg. Homeowner, but the drilling required a little more skill & possible some tools that an average homeowner does not possess. Otherwise job was relatively easy and satisfactorily completed.
I pulled all the items out of door, removed door top hinge cover, lifted the door off the hinge and removed the bottom hinge and closing cams and replaced them and re hung the door, just about that fast.PSThanks for the parts
Used (2) 2 x 4's as block and lever to raise door removed 2 screws and removed door used same socket to remove and replace door side of replacement part. replaced door. This is the second time I have replaced this part on frig. side. Very easy replacement.
1.Emptied the stuff from inside of the fridge door. 2.Using a phillips screw driver I removed the plastic cover over the top hinge.3. Using a small ring spanner I removed the two bolts holding the top hinge (pin), removed the hinge and lifted the door off the bottom pin.4.Using the same spanner I removed the bottom hinge containing the broken plastic cam.5.Replaced the broken hinge with the new one and put a little grease on the hinge pin.6.Placed the new plastic cam on the hinge pin and refitted the door.7.Replaced the top hinge and plastic hinge cap, Job Done! A couple of points a) When your plastic cam needs replacing, always buy the hinge pin & plastic cam. The pin has a plastic cam welded to it and as this is the partner of the plastic cam it will also be worn so you should replace them as a pair.b) You will spend more time cleaning the 'out of the way' parts of the fridge than actually carrying out the repair. My fridge is now as good as new.
My job pretty much paralled the no. one on this list,I am a retired industrial electrician and have many years experience doing similar jobs.Went very well. . Tom Pennington of Muncie Indiana
Part Number: PS2901991. Empty the door shelves.2. Leave the door closed.3. Remove the grill directly beneath the doors. a. It snaps in. Pull simultaneously on the outside edge and the bottom about 2 inches in from the outside edge.4. Using two people. One holding up on the bottom of the door. The other removes the two screws that hold the hinge to the refrigerator.5. Open the door slowly and let it down slowly to pull the door away from the top hinge.6. Emptied door shelves and removed top pivot hinge bracket. lifted door of lower pivot and set aside.Removed vent-toe base and replaced hinge 'L' bracket and cam.Removed two bolts from bottom of door and inserted new plastic cam. Set door back on lower pin and re-attached top hinge bracket while aligning door.Replaced articles back in door and watched it as it it self closed. Total time, less than 15 minutes excluding cleaning of equipment while dis-assembled.
First I bought the right tool to remove the hinges. Then replaced the hinge with the two cams. Now the door closes itself.
Being as the part is plastic it has a limited life span. But the repair is very easy and anyone can do it. I just proped the door with 2x6's and 1x2's and bolted it in. If you get confused just look at the freezer side to see how it goes, they are the same. It's four bolts and some shims that need to go in the same locations. I'm real happy that there is an online location to get these parts as there is not anywhere to get them where I live.
Removed door and replaced bracket assembly. Door works like new. Self closing and sealing properly.
Removed guards and covers, (2 snap connections, 3 phillips head screws) Removed two 5/16" screws, removed door, removed cam from bottom of door, installed new items.Worked Great!!!
The refrigerator door would now close and notice broken plastic on the floor. It is a 1990 or so GE fridge. To repair - ordered the Cam Riser (the plastic piece that broke and the matching lower door bracket.Took off the lower hinge with a socket wrench. removed the door. Replace the old Cam Riser with the new one. Slid the door onto the upper guide then fastened the new hinge with the socket wrench. Easy job .. around 20 minutes.
The magnetic door strip will hold the door in place if the door shelves are unloaded.I removed the bottom hinge with the socket set and installed the new hinge.
