Emptied the refrigerator door so it was easier to take off. Used a screwdriver to remove the screw on the top hinge. Lifted door off bottom hinge. Laid the door down so I could take the bottom hinge off. Removed worn out parts and placed the new one on. Slipped door back on hinge, made sure it would close properly and was lined up with freeze door. Put top hinge back in place. Done!! Now door finally shuts on its own again!!! EASY!!!
Removed the upper hinge assembly. Removed the door. Removed the kick plate. Removed the old hinge assembly and installed the new one.Replaced the other broken cam on the door bottom. Then, reinstalled door to fridge and reinstalled the top hinge. PS/cleaned and lubed both upper and lower hinges.
The on line "how to" video was PERFECT! I followed the steps and the repair was a breeze. Parts Select is now bookmarked in my favorites! These guys make is SO easy for "non-handy" folks like me.
After watching your instruction video and not wanting to shut down refrigerator and remove foods from door, I elected to lift the door and place blocking under it.The actual hinge replacement took approximately 10 mins. I would also like to say that I am extremely satisfied with PartSelects handling of my order and your promptness resending my order because of my goof-up with my own address. I am grateful and will recommend you to anyone who needs parts for any appliance. Thanks again. Chuck Gjovig
I watched the video on your web site first. Then I proceeded to do the repair exactly as the video showed. Very easy!!!!!
I simply followed the excellent video, once I discovered the lower door hinge was the problem. Part Select was amazing! A $25 part and 15 minutes saved me $1,200+ ... the price of a replacement refridgerator. Thank you!
1. Unscrewed the top screws with a socket set 2. Took door off of refrigerator 3. Unscrewed hinge assembly 4. Put on new hinge assembly 5. Replaced door on refrigerator 6. Screwed top screws back in I watched a youtube video on how to replace it that was extremely helpful. I am not a handyman, so if I can do this, anyone can.
Turned refrigerator off. Removed food from right hand (refig.) door. Closed door. Removed upper hinge cover with a standard Phillips screwdriver and then removed upper hinge by removing two 5/16" bolts using nutdriver. Lifted door up to clear the bottom hinge-post and set it on the table. Removed the kick pan at the bottom of the refrigerator and then removed the bottom hinge-post which was attached with two more 5/16" bolts. Installed new lower hinge post and rubbed a small amount of mineral oil on the closing cam (which is riveted to the hinge-post). Removed the old upper closing cam from the door (5/16" bolts) while it as lying horizontal on the table and installed new cam lubricated with a small amount of mineral oil. dropped the door in place, replaced upper hinge and cover. Replaced kick pan. Done.
replace broken hinge.
they sell the cam piece but the instructions says not to replace only one part. so beware you need both the cam and hinge as a kit .
Just watch the Parts Select YouTube videos on replacing the door hinges. That helped a lot. All I needed was a phillips head screw driver and a 5/16ths socket wrench. Easy after watching the video a few times.
Use several wood blocks and propped fridge dooe up and someone else steadied the door while I replaced the hinge. Pretty easy.
Door closing cam was disintegrated, and the matching cam on the hinge assemble was worn too. Replaced the Door Closing Cam, along with the hinge assembly, and door closes fine now.
I am a widow, 70 year old. Ordered parts. They came very fast. It took less than Fifteen minutes to remove door and take off broken parts and put the new ones on. I am glad I have two doors on the fridge so I was able to lift it up.
