Broken rotary switch and knob
Unplug dryer from electrical outlet
unscrew 4 screws back off dryer panel
unscrew 2 screws each off sides that hold panel
had to get a wrench set to unscrew rotary start switch from front panel because the two sides would not come off. tilt front panel and unscrewed rotary switch with wrench. Insert and screwed in rotary switch. Place on new knob. Plugged dryer in electical outlet and tested parts. Everything worked. Place screws back in sides and back panel. Done Very easy.

Tub dampening straps needed for repair
Check on internet on how to use a putty knife to remove the front panel (slip it into the crack between the top lid and front panel). Then you can see the straps that are broke, figure out which screws to remove to gently lift the top lid to get at the pieces holding the straps in. Pretty simple, just remember to unplug the machine before starting.

My husband broke the start knob, because he didn't know that you have to select the time and fabric selection first
Ordered a new knob and replaced the broken one.

Rotary start switch stem broke off
I simply removed the back of the dryer top and disconnected the old start switch and connected the new part. It honestly took me longer to take out the screws to remove the back plate than it did to replace the rotary start switch. It was very easy and I had a lot of confidence due to watching the Partselect instructional video on YouTube. The Partselect Customer Service woman was great too!

Broken "start" knob
The start knob had crack in it that was getting bigger, and we'd begun using pliers to start it. Not only was it unwieldy but I thought it would eventually strip the metal stem. Of course this was a breeze of a repair--we just slid the new knob on. But my husband had been certain that finding a replacement knob--or calling a dealing and ordering the part--would be a big deal. I said: "But let's just try on-line." We quickly found the model # inside the dryer door. We filled in the appliance info, the part popped up. I ordered it. It arrived in 2 days. It's like new.

Handle got broken off 7 years ago and just 3 months ago the start knob cracked in half
I got tired of every one complaning and using one of the knobs from the stove to start the dryer, I found this site and the parts and there you go.

Broken knob on my 15 year old dryer
The knob to start my dryer broke about a year age. I was using pliers to start the dryer. I was sure I would never find a replacement part and it was just a matter of time before the plier trick would break the start knob. I decided to look on line for a replacement knob sure that I wouldn't find one. Clicked on PartSelect, enter General Electric dryer and a bit more simple info and there was the part I needed.
