Gas Igniter WE4X444

The part arrived on time and well packed. It is a delicate part and I appreciate the special packaging. My dryer is 30 years old and I refuse to get rid of it. This is the third time I've replaced the igniter. I thought I was going to have to give up the ghost and replace the dryer. A service guy once told me, don't get rid of this dryer. The new ones will never last as long as this one lasted. I'm glad I found your company.

This is a very easy repair. Whirlpool (Kenmore branded) Gas Dryer manufactured in 1976. Needed a phillips screwdriver for the repair. Open the lower panel, test the connections to see if 115V is available at the igniter connections (wire nuts). If Yes, and igniter does not glow order a new igniter. Unplug Dryer. Remove single screw that attaches igniter bracket to the burner tube. Carefully open the igniter mounting ears to remove old lgniter and insert the new part. Carefully reinstall the bracket with new igniter. Do not touch any metallic parts of the burner as the igniter is very fragile. The new part fit perfectly and the dryer was working again in 15 mins. I would have given 5 stars except for the lame shipping method of Part Select. They shipped via Fed Ex ground and it took 10 days to travel from Louisville, KY to Syracuse, NY. Finally at WilkesBerry, PA Fed Ex released the package to USPS for home delivery, I got it the next day. If Part Select had placed the 6 oz package in the USPS mail, it would have arrived in 3 days. Part Select should find a way to send small light packages via USPS.

I had no flame so I took a stab and purchased a new igniter. Replacement is easy enough through a panel on the front lower right of my machine. The whole gas regulator/burner assembly comes out after removing a couple small sheet metal bolts and removing the 1 inch gas line coupling (shut the gas line off, mine had a valve right in front), unplug the electrical components and the entire unit slides out. My igniter was broken. These are VERY DELICATE! I used a pair of external snap ring pliers to gently spread the sheet metal clip to remove and replace the igniter. Vacuumed all the dust off everything and re-assembled. I didn't even have to move my dryer during this whole process. Houston we have ignition!!

Once again, the GE website would not even acknowledge that my model number ever existed, much less help me find the part number needed. PartSelect came to the rescue: I quickly found and ordered the part and it works great.
