Dishwasher door became really heavy to operate
Note: This procedure assumes replacement of both eyelet cables. It is recommended that both eyelet cables be replaced at the same time.
1. Using a Philips' head screwdriver, remove the four screws holding the lower front panel (below dishwasher door). 2. Remove the faulty eyelet cable(s) hooked into the springs at one end and the door hinges at the other. 3. Take the new eyelet cables and hook them onto the door hinge on either side. Ensure a secure fit. 4. Guide the eyelet cable around the spinwheel on one side and insert the hooks of the springs into the eyelets. 5. Pull on the springs and insert their hooks into the eyelets of the other cable, ensuring a secure fit. 6. Test the door by opening and closing it a few times to ensure the spring has tension. 7. Replace the lower front panel cover removed in step 1 with its screws.

Dishwasher door no longer stays up and is heavy
I removed a front access panel below the door and found a broken steel cable going to the spring assembly which helps lift the door. I ordered a replacement from PartSelect which arrived quickly. To fix the problem, all I had to do was attach one end of the cable to the springs, route the cable across a nylon wheel, and slip the eyelet end of the cable onto a mounting post. Then reattach the access panel and I was done. Problem fixed.

Appliance door would fall open and was heavy to close
I first removed four screws holding the two cover panels attached to the dishwasher front at the bottom. Next I removed the broken cable and put everything back together that had sprung apart when the cable broke. Then I inserted the two door springs ends into the cable slots. Next I pulled on the springs to create slack and attached the cable / eyelet assembly to the protruding tab on the dishwasher frame. After attaching both sides the door works perfectly.

Dishwasher door really heavy.
I have to be honest. At first I called a repair person, but it was Sunday so he couldn't come till the following week. Then my incredibly intelligent, industrious, and internet-savvy wife found your website. We saw that others had had the same problem. The part we needed was right there.... voila! 2 days later I had the part in hand. Not being the most handy of handymen, I followed the directions that others who had the same problem had posted. Yep, it was that simple -- And a heck of a lot cheaper than a repair person. Your website was very valuable, and I definitely will refer it to others looking for a part for a home repair job.

Door falls open and/or is not counterbalanced
First I removed the four screws holding on two metal panels to gain access to the springs. Then I unhooked the broken assembly from the springs. Then I hooked the new assembly to the hinge. Finally, I reconnected the assembly to the springs. (I didn't have to unhook the assembly from the hinge because it had already broken off.)
This part must be one of those that commonly goes because I had replaced the other side about a year ago. The most difficult part a year ago was diagnosing the problem and figuring out how the pieces fit together. This now it was a quick repair because I knew exactly how to fix it. (And thanks to PartSelect for delivering the part in 48 hours even though I didn't pay for quick delivery.)

The front door falls down when opened
First, remove the two access panels to the bottom of the dishwasher, each had two screws. Then, disconnect each old door cable and eyelet assembly, and the two springs. Now, connect the two new cable assemblies, and reconnect the two springs, one at a time, between the eyelets of the cable assemblies. Finally, replace the access panels

Dishwasher door become very heavy - cable broke
Remove the bottom two panels below the dishwasher door. There are two phillips screws and two nut screws.
Replace the broken cable by first hooking the cable to the side of the dishwasher. The other end of the cable assembly with two holes hooks up to the two large springs which keeps the door in balance. Hook one spring at a time to the cable assembly.
Reassemble the two bottom panels with the four screws.
YOU ARE DONE - Congratulations, you just saved $125 which is what the plumber quoted me.

Cable broke to the spring attachment for tension on the door.
The cable attachment comes with the two hole loop assembly that the springs hook into. With the lower panel off and the door closed, the other end of the cable assembly hooks onto the fitting on the side of the door. No tools required except the phillips head screw driver to take off the lower panel.

The springs keep the door from falling too fast. When the cables break, the door free falls.
There are 4 phillips screws on two covers at the bottom front of the dishwasher, when they are removed, the cables and springs are accessible. The springs and cables are replaced by hand only. Then the covers are replaced with the 4 screws. DONE.

Cable broke- door would fall down to floor
I made a substitute cable that worked ok, but was a bit loose. When the new cable part came in I simply unhooked the substitute and hooked the new part in its place. The two spring ends slip into a hole on the cable connector. The cable loops under a plastic pulley and the far end piece fits over a small retainer. Actually, unbolting the bottom case parts and bolting them back on took more time than replacing the broken cable. The door works fine now.
