This part works with the following brands: GE, Hotpoint & Kenmore.
This part fixes the following symptoms:
I had replaced the door gasket a few years earlier and had difficulty fitting the gasket around the bottom corners. This time I removed the plastic inner door panel for complete access to the gasket channel. I opened the new gasket package and let it stand unrolled overnight to remove the kinks. Once the old gasket was removed I took a thin piece of wood wrapped with a cloth to clean out the gasket track. The gasket snaps in easily. Be careful not to over stretch the gasket around the bottom corners. The curve of the gasket will resemble the curve of the door panel when set correctly. This is where I had trouble earlier when I tried to set the gasket in the channel with the door panel still attached. It is much easier to do this with the door panel removed.

Disconnected power to dishwasher removed the seven screws that hold inside liner to door, and placed liner to the side. Disconnected power leads to timer then removed the two screws that held the timer in place.Installed new timer in revers order. Also replaced the door gasket, one door liner screw, and the vent pad.The most difficult part was keeping the door latch mechanisim in place when reinstalling the door liner.
stripped old gasket from around the door (easy part) instructions said to remove two screws from the bottom of the door to allow you to fit the gasket around the bottom this was not too easy as you cannot get see the inside of bottom end of the door I ended up removing the other door screws and this allowed me to fit the gasket quite easily one tip tape the door lock immediately after removing screws as the lock assembly is not attached to the door final step was to make sure the gasket was seated all around as my first wash had a slight lead by pushing on the door after the door was locked cured the problem
Took inner door panel off and cleaned and replaced gasket.
Quick and easy!! I am not a good repair person, but this was about as easy as it gets. Take off the old put on the new. Make sure that you have it equal on both side of door before you put your gasket in. Just so you dont have to do it twice.
since I could not figure out if th new part was really the right one( the original was replaced with a newer part) I tried to hire a plumber. Nobody would do the work if I bought the parts by myself They insisted they have to provide the parts
The check valve in the piston and nut assembly was worn away not stopping the water from reentering the basin area. Replaced it and all was good there. Replaced the door gasket and all was good there now too.
