This part fixes the following symptoms:
Turned off circuit breaker to range.Removed the 2 oven racks. Removed two screws in back of oven compartment. Pulled element forward and the terminal connections get exposed.The right terminal clip disconnected by itself and the wire went back into the stove and could not be retrieved.Removed range draw under the oven and pulled entire range out from wall about 4 feet.. Removed metal backing with a socket wrench and exposed the oven element wires and terminals.Reinstalled new element and metal backing.Since range was out from wall, cleaned and vacuumed before pushing stove back in place. Since range draw was out re-leveled by setting adjustable feet.Reinstalled drawer and racks.Turned on circuit breaker.Tested element by setting bake cycle on.

After the element cooled down, I pulled the racks out of the oven, turned off the oven at the breaker box, then, using a nut driver, loosened the screws that held the baking assembly in the back of the oven, and pulled the connecting wires off. I bent the wires to make sure they would stay out, because if they get back in the insulation, they are hard to find. I would recommend getting a pair of locking pliers and putting them on the ends of the wires just to keep them from getting back into the insulation. Then I attached the left connection wire and then the right one, pushed them back into the insulation, tightened the baking assembly to the back wall of the oven, turned it back on at the breaker box, then tested the oven to see if it heated up. It did. Total repair time 15 -20 minutes. Would have been less if I didn't have to chase one of the wires back in the insulation. Shamless plug for the company ...By paying extra for 2-day shipping to receive the part, I saved just over $20 from buying it at Sears, which would have had to order the part anyway.
removed the oven racks. used a 6.5 mm socket to take out two bolts. pulled out old element and wires through insulation into oven. i used caution during this part i didn't want the wires to disconnect and fall into the oven. once the wires and element was pulled out approximately 3 inches. i used two magnet clips that hold papers onto the refrigerator and clipped both wires so they wouldn't go back into the stove. disconnected the element from the wires and connected the new element to the wires. pushed wires into the back of the oven and tightened the two 6.5 mm bolt. done in 10 minutes. turned oven on to 400 degrees and let same pre heat. a little smoke will come from the new element which is normal. works fine now.
After I got the right part(I ordered the wrong one at first, my fault) it was simple to remove the old element, 2 screws and push on termilnals, and replace with perfectly fitting new part. Word of caution, turn off the breaker to stove. I found that the element line is hot even if the control is off!
Baking element:First, turn off your breaker so you don't get injured. Using a small nut driver, remove the two screws that hold the element into the back of the oven. Once the screws are out, the element slides out, toward the oven opening. Be careful not to pull too hard, or the wires could disconnect from the back and be difficult to retrieve. Once the wires are exposed, disconnect them from the terminals. Attach them back to the new element, and put it back in. EASY For the stovetop, this is a glass top, so the burners are underneath. There are two small screws on the underside of the stove top, where the oven door closes. Remove those screws and then lift the front of the entire stove top. It will hinge at the back. There are two screws and little metal brackets that hold the burner in place. Remove those screws and brackets, disconnect the wires, and be sure to remember which wire goes where. Reattach the wires and screw the brackets back into the burner. Refasten the stovetop and you are good to go.
Unplugged unit. Removed racks from oven. Removed screws from bracket holding element in. Carefully pulled element forward until the wire connections were exposed. Removed wires taking care not to let them retract into the oven. Removed element from oven. Placed new element in oven. Connected wires to element. Replaced screws to hold element in. Replaced racks. Plugged in oven. Turned on to see if working.
I (1) pulled the oven away from the wall to get the back of it exposed. Then I (2) pulled the plug out to make sure there was no electrical current. Then I (3) opened the oven door and tugged on the broken heating element to see how tightly it was connected in the back of the oven. Next I (4) went to the back again and slid the silver-colored metal cover that protected the exposed electrical wiring for the oven. I (5) observed that there were a number of different colored wires held in place by screws as well as some wires that disappeared into the insulation, so I (6) went back to the front of the oven and pushed the broken heating element backward to determine if its wiring would become visible from the back of the stove. I (7) observed from teh back that it did. From that point, I (8) pulled the heating element's wiring connections through the insulation until it was visible. The I (9) unscrewed the two nuts connecting the heating element to the oven's wiring. Then I (10) went back to the front and pulled the broken heating element out and (11)inserted the new heating element. Then I (12) returned to the back and connected the loose wires to the heating element and (13) pushed the heating element forward into the oven. I (14) went around to the front to ensure the heating element was positioned the same way in the oven as the old one was, then in the back (15) replaced the metal shield over the wiring and isulation, (16) plugged the oven back in and (17) turned the oven baking setting on to a high temperature to test the new element (i.e., that it was connected correctly and actually worked). I (18) observed that the oven began heating up quickly to the proper temperature, and I was greateful the new bake element worked as good the original part. I then (19) turned the oven off and pushed it all the way back to its place against the wall.The repair job was not effortless (about 15-20 minutes) but was simple enough NOT to require an electrician. The most difficult part was physically sliding the stove out and back into its tight place between our counters.
Pulled the oven out of it's location. Disconnected the power cord from the Electrical Outlet. Removed the Protective back plate (from the rear of the oven) which covers the wiring. Disconnected the two leads that connect the Baking Element. Went to the front of the Oven, opened the oven door, removed the two screws with a socket wrench (you can use a screw driver as well), at this point you can replace the element with the new one and secure with the two screws. I then went back to the rear of the oven and reconnected the two wires back onto the new heating element and replaced the wiring protective back plate. Reconnected the power cord to the electrical outlet and turned on the oven to see if the element heats up. AND IT DID. Moved oven back into it's original location and I was done. This took 16 minutes to do and saved me a nice amount of money. I could have had a service person show up and do this work which would have cost me $189.00 (Parts & Labor) to have done and all I spent , by ordering the part from PARTSELECT.COM, was just under $50.00.
Turn off power to oven,remove two screws holding element in place,pull element forward approx. 1" and unplug wires,remove element. Install new element in reverse order of above.
I unplugged the stove then took the oven racks out. Then I took a nutdriver and took out the 2 screws that held the Bake Element in place. Pulled the 2 prong's out of the oven and removed the wires from the tips. They pulled right off. Took out the new Bake Element and reversed the process. Attached the 2 wires put the 2 prong's back into the holes and screwed the 2 holding screws back in. Plugged the Stove back in and turned her on. Doing it myself saved me $150.00.
First I shut off power to the unit. Then I removed the oven shelves. Next, I removed the two screws that hold the element in place using a socket ratchet. Then I carefully pulled the element out a few inches. I had some clothes pins with me because I read how some people had problems with the wire leads slipping back into the unit insulation. When the terminals and wire leads were exposed, I clamped the clothes pins on the wires between the leads and the oven wall so the wires could not be pulled back into the wall. Then I disconnected the wires from the old element. Next, I connected the new element to the wires, removed the clothes pins and gently nudge the element terminals back into the oven wall. Then I put the screws back to secure the element. Finally, I turn the power on and set the oven to 400 degrees. When I saw the element get red hot in a couple of minutes, I knew it was fixed. I've used it several times since then.
After reading all the repair stories I knew that their wasn't any extra wire when the old element is removed. Well, even with that knowlage one of the wires came loose and slipped back in. Fortunately I was able to remove a panel in back and push it back through. I was afraid I would have to take off the whole back but instead there is a panel covering the wire running down the center of the oven. After removing 5 screws with the same nut driver as the one for the coils I had it done in minutes. I had no problem and I am NOT a 'do it yourselfer'. Oh, did I mention I ordered the part on Friday and received it on Saturday standard shipping? Pays to live the next state over from the place shipping it.
Used a pliers to remove old bake element (2 nuts that none of our socket set would fit). Removed the back panel with screwdriver. Unattached bake element from wires. Then removed old element and put new element in, pulled new element wires through back and reattached to range. Screwed back in the oven with the pliers. Closed up the back panel with the screws.
I unscrewed and removed the old element from inside the oven, but unfortunately there wasn't enough extra wire to pull through and attach the new element from the front, so I had to move the oven away from the wall, remove the back panel, and connect the new element from the rear. Very self-explanatory.The new element had some kind of spray or coating on it that caused some smoke for a few minutes, but then it worked fine.
I order the part online on the 23rd of February 09 in the afternoon it was delivered on the 24th to the address in Florida and then fedex to me in Cayman. So I got it on the 2nd of March went home that evening after work got my pliers unpluged the stove removed the two screws that holds the element in place. I also removed the metal from the back of the unit first to make sure I was doing it right. I then pulled the element at the back and disconnected the two wires replacing it with the new one. I then replaced the back and screws and pluged it in turned on the oven waited and when I saw it turn red I felt so good. I said thank you Lord and then baked a cake. The whole installation took about 20 mins.Thanks again.P.S. please look into offering shipping orders overseas.
