At the floor of your electric oven is the bake element. This partially open-style element comes with push-on terminals. The bake element will likely provide most of the heat for baking. Therefore, if the oven is not heating properly, or if food is burnt on top and undercooked below, your bake element may be at fault. If you can see that the element has been separated or blistered, you should replace the part immediately. If there is no visible damage, turn the oven on and check to see if the element heats evenly. If the element is not heating evenly, or if it is not heating at all, use a multi-meter to test for electrical continuity to see if the element needs replacing.

This part works with the following brands: Kenmore, General Electric, Hotpoint.

This part works with the following products: Range, Microwave Oven Combo.

This part fixes the following symptoms:

  • Little to no heat when baking.
  • Element will not heat.
  • Oven not heating evenly.
  • Oven is too hot.
  • Will Not Start.
  • Little to no heat when broiling.

Heating element had shorted out and broken.

Unscrewed the heating element from the inside back of the oven and removed the housing cover from the back of the stove to access the terminals. (The unit had arked and fused the terminal to the connector.) Installed the new unit and replaced the housing cover on the back and screwed the unit into the back of the oven. Works like a charm.

Large front burner came on sometimes. Oven bake element got red in one spot and burned out.

Really simple. Shut off circuit breaker. Removed 4 counter top screws and slid out the built in stove. Removed 2 screws holding element in oven and removed back cover. Pulled leads off element in back since I couldn't remove from the front then removed element from oven front. Replaced the element and reversed the procedures. For the top burner, I cut the leads about 2 inches from terminal block and removed the screw holding the block. Afer stripping the wires, I used the wire nut supplied and reconnected the terminal block. Replaced the terminal block screw, slid stove back in and reversed removal procedure.
Turned power on and everthing worked. One problem occured with the terminal block; the connecting hole for the screw was 90 degrees off. I had to bend it to a 180 degree configuration for the screw to be installed.

Oven stopped heating and element appeared broken

The customer service rep was brilliant in finding the
right part number! It was sent the following day
(with email to let me know) The part itself was just
exactly like the old one. I simply turned off the power,
removed the 2 metal screws and unplugged the
broken element. The new one fit properly and works
like a million dollars. For about $50, you made me
look like a hero in my own house! Thjank you

Baking element arced and burned out

Removed oven racks and took the opportunity to clean my oven. Then removed the two hex head nuts holding the burner assembly in place. I slid out the burner (very slowly) hoping the connectors were intact and that there was enough lead wire to make for an easy repair. Yes... there were 2 inches of lead wire. It took a couple of minutes to swap out the parts and... success!
Don't forget to turn off the circuit breaker before starting repairs.

Bake element on oven arced and split

Instead of flipping circuit breaker, we pulled the oven away from the wall and unplugged it. Used socket wrench to loosen screws of bracket holding old element onto the back oven wall, then gently pulled element until connecting wires appeared. Removed the 'clips' attached to the old element prongs and discarded old element. Reattached the 'clips' to new element prongs, then gently pushed prongs into back into oven wall until the bracket was flush with the wall. Used socket wrench to screw and tighten the bracket into place. Plugged in the oven and tested the new element to make sure it worked. The whole process took only a few minutes.....it took longer to clean the oven before installing the new element.

The bake element caught on fire. I needed to replace the burner..

All I had to do was just unscrew the bolts, pull out the old one, and put the new one on its metal clips and then rebolt. So easy and I know I would have had to pay much more then what I did for the part..This place is super.I ordered my part one day, and it was there the next...Sandy

Replace bake heater element

Basically very easy. Be sure to follow suggested safe practices - DO shut off the circuit breaker to the unit BEFORE starting (I didn't to start with, shorted out the heater leads - dumb on my part). Just removed the burned out element by removing the 2 screws using a nutdriver, pulled the element out, and slipped off the crimp fittings. Reverse steps to install replacement. The crimp fittings were stubborn coming off the old one, so it took longer than expected. Otherwise, easy peasy.
