Repair hotpoint oven

I had to replace the gasket on the oven door, the old one was close to not being present. All I needed to do is to pull the old clips with the pliers, and then added the new gasket. Now the knob was easy to put on :)

An old 24 inch ele.Range with no gasket on door.

The oven is used but in good condition. I rent so decided to see if I could get a gasket and attach it myself. I am a skilled builder (carpentry, etc,) and tried to attach it with small sheet metal screws every 4 inches or so, but unfortunately, the gasket was too short and was a little too thick. This made it seal well as I was closing the door but held the top out slightly. So...it didn't work. I doubt there is an alternative but it was a good effort. I think I will keep a fan in the kitchen to change the air when I broil.

This was my fault, not yours.
So if you make a gasket that has more softness, therefore more compressible I can try that. The gap is 3/16 inches x 48 inches.
Thanks a lot,
Richard Lagasse
