Fridge wasn't keeping steady temp and dishwasher was not getting bottom dishes clean

It started with a trip from a repairman who came out and diagnosed the problems as being the mother board on the fridge and the spray arm on the dishwasher. He then took my money for parts and dissapeared. Knowing what I needed I decided it couldn't be rocket science so I order the parts myself from part select. The parts arrived per shipment method and at first I was a little concerned because the mother board I received looked different than the one I was replacing. After verifying it was the correct part I powered off fridge unhooked connectors and plugged them into the new board. Grounded it with screw, plugged it back in and it is working great. The spray arm was even easier. All this and I'm a woman :) From now on when my appliances break I will check here first before I call a rip off repairman. Still trying to get my money back but no complaints about PartSelect.

Fridge too warm, evaporator icing up

Replaced these parts and didn't fix the problem. Had to replace the temperature sensor. The fix could have been a $10 rather than $160, but I didn't know how to test the components individually. But it is fixed now!

The board and heater plug right in. For the Defrost Thermostat (or thermistor?) I had to cut 2 wires, crimp the new wires to the old ones and seal up. Then attach to evaporator. Thanks for the help this site provided.

My refrigerator/freezer had several problems; both frig and freezer wasn't cooler properly, some days everything froze. The ice maker stopped making ice and water was leaking in the freezer.

I first called a GE repairperson. The diagnose the problem and told me the main control board was shot and the double outlet water valve needed replaced. The estimate for both parts and repairs was $850.00. I thought the estimate was high so I did some research on-line and discovered I could purchase the parts myself. When I researched the part, a short video popped up explaining how to install the part. I watched both video's and did exactly what the guy in the video said and was able to repair my refrigerator/freezer myself. The total cost for both parts was $200.00, I save $650!!! Amazing. I ordered the part on Saturday, and was told it would take a week to 10 days to receive the part and the part showed up on my door steep the following Tuesday. I'll never call a repairmen first again. I'll research the issue through partselect.com and try to fix the problem myself. I am not technologically or mechanically sauvy and have spent thousands on repair bills in the past, no more will I do that.

Refrigerator wasn't cooling

Very simple fix by replacing the mother board. Your "how to" video made the repair even easier. The appliance repair estimate was over $400. I saved over $200. I already recommended your site to several other people. Thanks for making it so easy

Periodic and intermittent "clicking," during which the lights on the temp control unit would go out. When clicking stopped and lights returned, temp control unit was not accepting adjustments in temp

Had friend assist in pulling fridge out from it's area so that I could access back. Unplugged unit. For the bottom freezer units (mine) the compartment containing the main control board is middle of the fridge and on the left. Took off the protective metal plate and then followed the video demonstrating the repair. One other discrepancy between the video and the instructions that came with the new main control board, is that the instructions suggested locating and cutting some other green wire to the compressor unit. I chose not to do that, as the unit was otherwise working fine as is prior to my main control board going south.

Water dispenser wouldn't work and refrigerator made an almost ghost like howling sound. Replacement main board fixed the noise. I purchased the replacement board for the ice and water (front of the refer) but haven't installed it yet.

I watched the on live video. Piece of cake!

Compressor would not run long enough to cool the freezer.

I found an online thread where someone else's fridge had similar symptoms as mine. 1.)Freezer would warm up to room temperature followed by the fridge. 2.)Compressor would not start once the freezer got above the set temperature. 3.)I would unplug the unit, wait a minute, & plug it back, but the compressor would only run for a few minutes. I removed the main control board and found that it appeared that one of the solders had shorted to the metal compartment that it is installed in. This connection, which was for the control board relay switch, was melted away and was not letting the board start the compressor when the temp. would rise. I ordered a new board which was delivered very quickly, installed it, and everything works fine now. Saved a lot of money over having someone else look at it or buying a new fridge. Changing the board was very easy since each connector has a different number of pins. It is imposible to plug them into the wrong spot.

Compressor stoped running with no warning or noise.

Opened the back panel and removed the old board and replaced it with the new one. The new board had a couple of extra connectors that are not used. Replaced the cover and turned it back on, everything was working fine after that. This is the second refrigerator that has lost the main board in a month, Putting surge suppressors on both.

Ping noise from mainboard on startup(noisy)with a whirling noise then ping for 5-10min then frig starts up, never lost cold inside but knew was a problem coming

Checked this website for symptoms described, found same descrip, ordered mainboard, changed out in less then 30 minutes, Frig working properly now. Follow the installation instructions carefully as this mainboard fits other frig's & depending on model some wires need to be cut on harness etc.

Frost on back panel and frig and freezer would get warm.

I wouldn't have had a clue without your video. After the part was delivered, which was only in two days, I watched the video. The man explained everything perfectly, making our "fix" a breeze. It was great, I stood over my husband's shoulder, while he sat on the floor and told him what to do step by step. It couldn't have been easier. You guys are awesome!
