Shipping Box came "opened" as tape had failed, however inner packing was intact. Item was undamaged and appeared correct as a replacement part. There are no manuals on-line or videos that describe how to install this part. Careful interpretation of OTHER YouTube Whirlpool microwave repair videos indicated it could be done, but the door could not be removed - it would have to be done in place. Even with very careful prying to separate the door components the flimsy plastic cracked several times and the brackets that hold the glass door window broke. The tiny screws that hold the handle on are buried beneath foam and did not want to come out - nor did they want to go back in the new handle. In performing this "miracle" the glass broke. This part was expensive - almost half the price of a new oven. PARTS AND PRODUCT NOT RECOMMENDZED

Why sell this if Regular folks aren't supposed to put it in???
We purchased this product to replace a broken handle at our rental. This part did not come with any instructions. When received, we attempted to install. After many YouTube videos and other 'tips', we thought we had it. 1.5 hours later we get a message from our tenants that the microwave no longer cooked, and the fan remained on. When I did a little more research, Whirpool states on their site that no one but a professional should install this piece. So, instead of a quick fix...we had to buy a whole new microwave and start over.

Door handle was cracked/broke
Easy install ... just removed a couple of screws and had pry the plastic cover and trim around door. i did break a couple of clips but it did not affect the door when reassembled. Youtube it

Handle was Broken / Grill broken by repaiman
Remove plastic retainer around glass front , then removed glass. Unscrewed handle and replaced new handle. I just installed the new grill.

How do i replace this handel
For model number gh5184xp handle for whirlpool
Hi Russ,
Thank you for your question. Before you begin any repair please unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet. You will need to remove the plastic lining around the inside of the door. There are retainer clips holding the liner in place and you will need to use a putty knife to remove it. Depending on the type of microwave you have, you may have to come in from the bottom or from the top to remove the lining. Gently slide the putty knife in between the lining and the frame and go around the frame and gently pry it loose. On the hinge side you will need to come in from the backside to pry the lining off. If after you remove the lining you only see 2 screws, unthread them to see if the handle will come off. If it does not come off, you will have to remove the inside door panel in the same way you removed the lining. Once removed, unthread the remaining 2 screws and remove the old handle. Install the new door handle and reinstall both the inner door panel and the lining. Restore power to the microwave and everything should now work for you. I hope this helps. The microwave handle is not broken but the clip inside the handle that attaches it to the door is broken. Do you sell just the clip? if not-does a new door handle come with the clip?
