Circulation Pump Motor with Impeller - 120V 60Hz

Removed required hardware and dishwasher from undercounter mount. Turned dishwasher on its front and removed the old motor. Installed the new motor and tested for function. Installed once test was successful.

To empty the water in the dishwater basin, I pushed the cancel button and closed the door. I then turned the electrical breaker to the off position that supplies electricity to the dishwasher. I confirmed the power was off by attempting to start the dishwaser. I removed the metal plate between the dishwater door and the floor by removing the two screws. I removed the two screws that connect the top of the dishwasher to the underside of the countertop. I shut the water valve that supplies hot water to the dishwasher (mine was located under the sink). I disconnected the drain hose (plastic) by using pliers to loosen the clamp the holds the hose on the outlet of the drain pump (drain pump is much smaller than the pump that needed replacement). A towell is handy to soak up the water that comes out the hoses. I loosened the nut on the water supply hose (this was difficult because of lack of room)using a wrench and pliers. I opened the door on the metal box that houses the wire nuts for the electrical connection to dishwater, and I removed the wire nuts and the screw for the ground wire. Once the white, black, and gound wires were disconnected, I could pull the dishwater out. I also had to pull the drain hose out from the clips on the side of the washer to pull the dishwasher out into the middle of the kitchen floor. I flipped the dishwasher on its back. I removed the single bolt that held the broken pump motor to the dishwasher, and then the motor twisted counterclockwise and I pulled it out. The pump shaft would not turn freely with my pliers, so I knew the motor was broken. I removed the pump end (impeller) from the dishwasher by tapping it with my screwdriver. The impeller end came out along with a metal screen. The metal screen was 50% plugged, so I cleaned it and put it back in place. I wet the gasket on the new pump motor and slid it back in place while rotating clockwise and locking it in place with the tabs. I replaced the bolt that holds the motor in place and reversed the repair procedure to re-install the dishwasher. Be sure to run the dishwasher and look for any leaks. The last step is to replace the metal plate between the floor and door. While I had the dishwasher pulled out, I discovered another problem with the pulleys and strings that prevent the heavy door from flopping down, but I won't include this repair. The pump and motor must have been failing for some time because the dishwasher is much quieter now and the dishwasher is much faster. I am sure the plugged screen didn't help either.

We took off the old one by disconnecting everything and put in the new one an re-connected everything. Aligning the pump was a little difficult.

The machine we bought was one of the quietest. Until recently it would run without making any noise. My wife brought the noise to my attention and I started troubleshooting. I took it apart to find there were pieces of broken glass in the screens and filters. After that I tested it and discovered that the sounds would only come if the motor itself were operating. Replaced motor....bada bing... I look like a hero to the wife.

First of all...do not attempt to change the wash motor from underneath. Pull the dishwasher out of the cabinet and then start following the the mfg repair instructions. It may be probable to replace the motor from underneath, but almost impossible. Helps to turn it over, too. Need star-type wrenches. That being said it was not difficult except to break away the water duct from the sump, kept feeling like something was going to break off. (have to force the duct to the right and it does not want to go far enough to come loose easily)But nothing broke and it's running again. Incidentally, the motor assy or cap was not at fault. Had a bad chopper.

Removed wash arms inside unit, then removed drain pump and disconnected all wires and took out the 3 clips that hold the assembly in the dishwasher. Everything came out pretty easy and I just put everything back the way it came apart. All told probably an hour with dis-assembly and assembly and no leaks. The motor was perfect, thanks.

FIRST RUN THE CANCEL AND DRAIN CYCLE TO EMPTY THE WATER FROM THE MACHINE. NEXT SHUT OFF THE WATER AND POWER TO MACHINE. THEN DISCONECT THE WATER AND DRAIN HOSES, AND UNINSTAL THE MACHINE FROM THE CABNET. THERE ARE USUALY JUST TWO SCREWS AT THE TOP WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR. BEFORE YOU TAKE THEM OUT TAKE OUT THE BOTTOM WASH ARM, AND THE SCREAN AND THE COVER OVER THE FOOD CHOPPER. THESE ARE ALL HELD IN WITH STAR SCREWS. AFTER THE COVER IS TAKEN OUT THE CHOPPER WILL LIFT RIGHT OUT.

NEXT LAY THE MACHINE ON ITS SIDE THERE IS JUST ONE CAPSCREW HOLDING THE MOTOR IN LOCATED BEHIND IT WHEN LYING DOWN BUT FIRST UNPUG THE WIRE HARNES TO IT.
THE MOTOR WILL COME OUT WITH JUST A SMALL TWIST AFTER THE CAP SCREW IS OUT.
TO INSTAL JUST TWIST IN PUT IN THE CAP SCREW AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS BACKWARD TILL IT IS INSTALLED AGAIN.

Ordered a new motor and impeller. Removed old motor when the new part arrived and replaced the part.Very simple repair when placing the dishwasher on its side - must easier than I expected. Great service on part delivery from Partselect! Thank you!

Shut off circutbraker,shut off hotwater suply.Pulout dishwasher,disconnect wires only.Flip dishwasher onto it's side.Disconnect wireing of the motor.Thereis one screw to take out with a small socket wrench.Than twist the motor/pump counter clockwise and pul out.Place in the new one,turn clockwise,put back plastic shield and screw.Reconnect wireings,reinstall dishwasher,turn power and water back on,test run ,check for leaks.

I had a grinding noise during the wash cycle. I decided to check the food chopper, all okay there. So I decided to replace the washer pump & motor. When I compaired both the new part and the old part I noticed the tip of the impeller was broken on the new part. I removed the impeller from the old motor and put it on the new one. After I got it back together I tried it and had the same noise. I removed the food chopper and the noise was gone. I guess I'll replace the food chopper now, even though it looks okay.

removed dishwasher from cabinet, unplugged power, leaned dishwasher on it's left side, used a 3/8 nut-driver to remove bolt holding pump, unplugged wiring harness from pump, rotate pump to the left and remove pump. then install new pump.

After looking at what everyone else had done, I decide that I would take the dishwasher out of the wall space and set it on its side. This require me to turn off the power first. Then I pull the diswasher out from its space in the wall. I turned off the the water and then took off the water hose, then took of the return hose. There was water left in both, so there was a little water on the floor as a result of this. Then I finally pulled out the unit and laid it down on its side. The motor was very visible and was easy to access. The hardest part was finding the bolt to take it off. I pulled off the power connector to the motor and then took off the one bolt that was holding the motor on the washer. Then I twisted the motor, but it would not come off. I finally got a screw driver and put it in the small opening between the motor and the connection and it finally came off. This took all of about 30 minutes. Once I got the motor off, I notice that the aluminum grating inside was dirty and needed cleaning. So I cleaned this and put it back inside. The new motor came with every thing, so I put it in and twisted it. Then put back in the bolt, reconnected the power cable, put back on the water and reconnected the output cable. In order to make sure there were no leaks before I put it back in for good, I ran a short wash to check to see if everything was tight. There were no leaks, so I put everything back in the wall. It really did sound very nice now. This dishwasher unit came with noise padding, so I put that back as well. The dishwasher, now is very quite and I don't mind it running any time during the day. The hardest part about this is getting the motor off and find the bolt. It is down between motor and the unit and there was some aluminum between this and the dishwasher, so you need a long nutdriver to get it off.
