My washer is making a loud noise when the agitator is moving during the wash cycle and the tub is stationary. It appears to be a bearing issue. There is no noise when in the spin cycle. Will the hub and seal kit correct this issue? Or is it a transmission issue? I don't think it's the transmission because there is no noise during the spin cycle. The washer spins out fine.

Good Day Kim. Thank you for your question in regards to the Hub and Seal Kit (PartSelect Number PS2349020). Based on our research, the following are the tools that you will need in order to replace this part5/16” nut driver, ratchet with 3/8” and 1/2” sockets, an extension, pair of pliers, pair of locking pliers, putty knife, a pipe wrench, hammer. You should be able to find these tools at a local hardware store in your area. We hope this helps! Best Regards.

I have a Maytag Atlantis that started making very loud noises during the spin cycle. After a while it seemed to struggle getting the spin going and eventually would not move. Motor seemed to be running. Also started getting more leaking - tub eventually drained out the bottom. I dismantled the entire machine and cleaned everything and reapplied some grease in areas. The spin bearing on the tub seal unit was rusted a bit but still moved freely. Brake was dirty with some grease in it - now cleaned. Pulley wheels looked good but cleaned with varsol and then alcohol - belt looks good too. After reassembling, the hub still seemed seized and still would not turn. Learned later this may be due to the brake being engaged although new machines in the store could spin easily either direction. Apparently the thrust bearing disengages the brake - manually turning the rotor does spin the hub. Is that normal though that the inner tub seems stuck? Not knowing about the brake operation, I even cracked the transmission (major pain) and cleaned it - all the gears looked fine. Reassembled, filled with new gear oil and resealed. I am assuming the leak and noise is related to the tub seal kit components. But, would this be the reason for the tub not spinning at all?
For model number MAV6200AWW

Hi Michael, Thank you for your question. If your washer was making a noise when it was spinning, the issue is usually the tub bearing. If the washer is no longer spinning and it is now leaking, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. You will need to check the transmission pulley and bearing, the drain pump and pulley, the seals and the inner and outer tubs. If the inner tub seems stuck, check the basket and drum gap to see if something is lodged there. Once you have determined the part you need, please feel free to call customer service. We are open 7 days a week and anyone will be happy to assist you. We look forward to hearing from you!

When the washer is in spin cycle the machine wants to walk because the drum moves back and forth. Which kit is recommended to prevent this from happening?
For model number Pav3200AWW
PartSelect logo
Hello Dave, thank you for contacting us. We would recommend checking the suspension spring, part number PS11738823. It supports the outer tub and keeps the tub stable during unbalanced loads. Replacing the transmission pulley and bearing kit, part number PS2003651, can also help with the problem. Customer service is always available to help you place an order if you are having trouble doing so. Good luck with your repair.
