I found corrosion/crud on a ribbon cable leading into the circuit board. That 'stuff' was creating a short circuit in the panel and making it act oddly. I was not able to remove the crud without rubbing away the wires on the cable (ggrrrrrr)... I tried rubbing alcohol and nail polish remover (for the acetone) and neither removed the corrosion/crud enough to prevent me from having to rub it. It didn't take much rubbing (was using a cotton tipped swab) to wipe away the wires. Maybe a specific cleaner (Radio Shack or PC Store?) for electronic circuit boards would making cleaning go better... since I messed up those wires I needed a new panal AND that did solve the original problem - pressing any button would only let the heavy wash cycle work. This was easy an easy job, just more screws than expected and I am familiar with circuit boards and numerous connector types.!! Turn off circuit breaker to dishwasher. !!Removed the internal door panel (11 hex head type 7/64" screws) and moved it out of the way (remove connector on that door panel to move it completely out of the way - I didn't). Need to remove AT LEAST the one screw in the middle of the black box to lift the top of the black box lid and disconnect the ribbon cable (don't recall if the two other screws on the black box needed to come off for the panel or not. NOTE: to remove the ribbon cable there's an outer sleeve/bezel that is all the way "up" (furthest away from the circuit board). That sleeve pinches the ribbon cable to hold it in. Slide it all the way "down" (towards the circuit board) - and then you can pull the ribbon cable out.Now remove 4-5 internal screws (use 1/4 nut socket) that hold the panel on and it will drop down and lift away. Grab the replacement panel...Re-install in reverse order of dis-assembly. Perhaps add at least one/two screws to hold the panel on and then re-connect the ribbon cable and slide the sleeve all the way "up" to lock cable in.Good Luck!!

Turned off breaker. Removed screws (torx) from periphery of inside door. Propped open inside of door and placed counterweight on outside of door to hold down while working. Removed screws (hex) from old panel. Noted and removed 2 connections from old handle switches and ribbon from control unit. Installed new handle in new panel and made handle connections per old orientation. Installed new assembly with hex screws. Ribbon in new panel was difficult to seat in old control unit. Required careful and persistent application of padded (American engineered) needlenose pliers. Reattached doorhalves with torx screws. Turned on breaker. Checked function. Reported to wife.
