Dishwasher wasn't cleaning well, especially top rack

I wanted to get the dishwasher cleaning better and thought that maybe the accumulator needed to be replaced. I figured that I'd swap out all the spray arms as well, just for good measure.

I needed Torx screwdrivers (T15 and T20, I think - not 100% sure on that) and patience because there's really quite a lot of screws to get the accumulator out. Finally got to it and it didn't look damaged, but replaced it anyway.

The spray arms are easy - they just snap in except for the lowest one, that had a plastic nut. I ordered a replacement nut just in case I broke this one (you know how that goes) taking it off. Well, it took pliers, but it came off ok.

In the end, my dishwasher is happy and cleans much better now.

Detached water distribution manifold

The original brackets that hold the water distribution manifold to the back and top of the tub came off the "X-shaped" plastic posts on the tub walls. That caused the upper wash arm to sag down into the travel of the upper dish rack and was broken off when the rack was pushed in.
I bought 2 new brackets and a new wash arm. The new brackets had a smaller aperature than the originals and fit tightly onto the plastic posts, holding the manifold firmly in its proper location. Replacement of the brackets and the new wash arm took less than ten minutes and required no tools!

Dishes were coming out dirty... cloudy and white.

I know that I have very hard water, but am reluctant to get a softener. I hope that changing the "guts" of the water delivery to my dishwasher will help...already replaced the filters which helped too... so far, it's a little better.

Installation was a breeze. Took off the upper, middle and lower spray arms. Had to loosen screws in filter assembly to remove old manifold. Popped everything into place... had to scrape mineral deposits off clips that support manifold and upper spray arms.
Easy...

The spinning wash arm above the glass rack broke off

The part broke off a while ago, and I did not want to call a repair person. The machine still ran, so I ran it with the part missing - the glasses were not very clean, but the repair call was expensive...

I figured that I had a snowballs chance of finding the part number on a molded plastic piece with no numbers printed on it. Boy was I wrong. I was able to choose the part off of a schematic of my machine right on the website and it linked me to the right part order form, so I did not even have to go back and find it on a list.

When the part came, all I had to do was unclip the old mount- with my fingers- no tools, and snap in the new part.

A for maytag for making it easy to fix
A+ for PartSelect for making it so darn easy

Dishwasher arm keeps falling off.

I bought 2 Maytag appliances, a microwave and a dishwasher - they are both crappy!

The top plastic spray arm kept falling off into the top shelf of the dishwasher, causing all of the glasses on that shelf to come out dirty.

The arm has a small bracket that can snap off and on the main water tube easily without tools.

Changing it was a snap!

A broken glass clogged up spray arms

I had unfortunately broken one of the spray arms trying to get the glass out. I ordered replacement parts from part select. They came in quickly. I used a small screwdriver to disconnect the old arms and reconect the new ones.
Problem solved.
Thank you

Dishwasher not cleaning correctly

Hey I hope this helps someone.. I was quite frustrated with out little dishwasher. It almost seemed that the dishes would come out dirtier than when they went in. Turns out we have hard water and it did a number on the parts of the dishwasher. Luckily, the parts were cheap enough that I thought I would give em a try. Between that and something called "Dishwasher Magic" I had success! One thing I wished I did differently was that I should have purchased two (2) wash arm retainer clips... I re-used an old one but it would have been nice to have all new parts inside.
Needless to say, our dishes now are super clean. I have 6 young kids so our dishwasher gets a real workout. I may have to purchase a water softener down the road but for now we'll roll the dice.

Hope this helps!

Original part was broken

Probably from hanging on a tall item as the upper rack was pulled out. One of the retaining tabs was broken and the rotating arm would not stay in place.

The area that holds the arm in place and it would not fit properly.

Took off the remaining part of the arm and simply pushed the new part in place.
