No water to icemaker.
Checked water inlet tube inside freezer, stuck screwdriver in it to see if there was any ice and it seemed clear. Checked water pressure to fill valve, good pressure. Replaced fill valve, still no water to ice maker. Replaced Ice Maker. Still no water to Ice Maker. Removed freezer back panel, hit fill tube with heat gun after allowing freezer to defrost awhile, replaced back panel, ice maker. Water going to icemaker fine. Problem was that the fill tube was frozen up way at the back where the water line emptys into the icemaker fill tube. Old icemaker and fill valve were probably OK. No real way to check it from outside the case in the rear of the fridge as the water line is sealed on the fill tube and heating it without removing the rear freezer panel does not get back far enough to melt the ice.

ICE MAKER NOT PRODUCING ICE
The original Ice maker water inlet valve proved to be good, I discovered that the water tube that delivers water to the ice maker was packed with ice. I remover the tube and ran hot water on it until it was ice free. Please check that tube before purcashing and installing any parts.

Water continued to flow after icemaker was full
Using nutdriver removed access panel on back. Unscrewed water supply line. Using nutdriver removed water inlet valve. The feed line to the icemaker is a pushlock connection so removed feed line. Then reverse process.

Having issues with my GE top freezer refrigerator. Noticed that water is leaking from ice maker and thought it was faulty ice maker. After replacing ice maker, water is still leaking because of overflow and i believe it is related to ice water inlet valve being faulty as does not seem to regulate water flow. Do you agree that replacing the water inlet valve should solve the problem?

Hi Vince, Thank you for your question. That would be the most likely part if it was not your ice maker. I would suggest testing your valve with a multi meter to be sure. I hope that helps. Good luck with your repair.

What is the most common cause of the water inlet valve overfilling the ice tray?
For model number GFSF2HCYCWW
PartSelect logo
Hi Hubert, Thank you for your question. If the water inlet valve is overfilling the ice tray, then a component in the valve gas failed and you will need to replace it. I hope this helps. Thank you and have a great day!

Will the water valve for ice maker work with a copper supply line? Or only plastic.
For model number GTS22KCPBRCC
PartSelect logo
Hi Mark, sadly we cannot recommend another part to replace the original. Even small differences can cause a part to be incompatible with your model and finding parts other than what is recommended by the manufacturer is outside of our scope of support. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair!

The water tube, leading to the ice maker, keeps freezing. I can defrost it with a blow dryer and it will make ice over and over until the buckets full. Once it trips the off switch, the plastic tube will freeze again. Is there a heater for the fill line that eliminates this?
For model number GTS22JCP
PartSelect logo
Hello Matt and thank you for writing. Here are a few reasons why this is happening. A refrigerator ice maker line that freezes up can be caused by a frozen ice maker fill tube, faulty water inlet valve, too low freezer temperature setting, or a water filter that needs replacing. It also could be and this is the most likely cause of a faulty temperature sensor PS304103 and/or defrost thermostat PS1017716, you should check for signs of damage, and replace it if needed. It is recommended to replace both parts at the same time. We hope this helps. Please contact us anytime.

I need to replace the water inlet valve on my GE PFCS1NFWASS fridge. I believe the above part # is what I need. I know the valve inlet fitting is a standard compression fitting. I'm not familiar with the outlet fitting. Do I make a fresh cut on the plastic outlet tubing (going to the icemaker) and simply insert it into the fitting? Thank you!

The female plug for water fill valve is not getting any voltage. The ice maker is empty. Is there a hidden ice maker on/off button ( switch) that I’m missing?
For model number GFSF2HCYC. BB
PartSelect logo
Hi Ed, thank you for reaching out. It seems like the solenoid of the water inlet valve, part number PS2340443, is faulty. Replacing the inlet valve might solve this problem. Also, there is a plug with the ice maker unit that attaches to the inner back side of the freezer compartment. You may check it to verify it is properly plugged. We hope this information helps!

Ice has a funny flavor like plastic. Do we need a water filter?
For model number gfsf2hcycww
PartSelect logo
Hello Gary, thank you for your question. There is no water filtration system on this unit. The water comes from the water valve to the icemaker. If the ice is tasting off the issue would be with the icemaker itself, or the ice bucket. We would recommend inspecting both parts for cracks or wear or flaking of the plastic coating where the water sits to freeze and in and around the ice bucket and auger where the ice sits to be dispensed. Usually the bad taste comes from the icemaker itself. I hope this helps.
