It was time to change the water filter.
All work was done by hand. I removed the cover plate, unscrewed the existing water filter and screwed in the new one. I returned the cover plate to its original position and bled the air out of the line by running the water dispenser for a few minutes. It could no have been easier.

Heater element in ice maker burnt out
This is a very simple repair.Unplug the appliance first because you're dealing with an electrical connection to the ice maker.Remove ice holder by lifting up on the tray. This exposes the ice maker.Remove hex head screw that holds ice maker to side of unit(the empty end of an all in screw driver is the exact size. Then lift up on the ice maker and pull away from the wall of unit.Unplug both ends of supply harness by squeezing the side of the plug ends.Remove the metal bale from old unit and reinstall the wiring harness and bale on the new unit.If you've gotten this far the new installation is a breeze.Plug in new unit and reattach to wall.Ice will start making in about an hour or two.

Freezer cold, refrigerator not cooling
First I removed the top shelf and its contents to allow for more room. Then I removed the plastic temperature control housing by tugging housing forward and releasing it from the two clips located at the upper rear corners of the fridge. Then pull down. Then I removed the three screws holding the entire temperature control assembly and dropped it down to access and remove defrost assy. Installed new defrost assy. and re-assemble in reverse. Change light bulbs before replacing final housing. Also, a good time to clean housing interior before re-installing.

Filter was one year old and needed to be replaced
Open refridgerator door, remove old filter by hand in a counterclockwise direction. Insert new filter turning clockwise. Close refridgerator door and fill a glass with water from dispenser. This will remove air and ensure water to free flow. Check for leaks.

have always done it myself, but Maytag store closed, so I didn't know where to purchase filter
I received it from Parts Select, in 2 days and if I remember right, price was cheaper than I paid last year, at store.

Changed water filter for water/ice despenser
Needed to replace water filter. Part arrived very quickly and was cheaper than nearby stores. I replaced old one within minutes. I also purchased air conditioner knob that other local places said were very difficult for them to locate. I am very pleased with the service, selection and the ease at selecting the correct parts.
