The flat style oven igniter kit comes with a mounting bracket and a wire connector with a plug. The igniter kit is used to heat your oven. If you notice that your oven will not heat up properly, the igniter kit may need to be replaced. This flat style gas oven igniter has a body length of 3-3/4 inches. When completing this repair, the connector plug might need to be removed and spliced to the range wiring using porcelain wire nuts. Before you begin this repair, be sure to disconnect the power source from the oven, and shut off the gas supply.
This part works with the following brands: GE, Hotpoint & Kenmore.
This part fixes the following symptoms:
The part was the exact replacement and fit exactly. Had to cut some of the sheetmetal at the back of the broiler to get the wiring through.

First removed 3 screws at burner front and back then pulled out lower storage drawer to disconnect plastic connector, removed and had to cut plastic connectors to use ceramic wire nuts (supplied with parts box) I had to work from underneath stove as well as in the oven it self, if the main door is easily removable it would have helped a great deal but four hours later
I was at my in-laws and they expressed how they needed to buy a new stove, since it stopped working. They explained the problem to me and I immediately checked the broiled (it worked fine). Knowing that stoves have 2 electric igniters, i knew 1 was bad.The site got me the part in 3 days (regular shipping). The repair was pretty easy.- Removed 2 screws that hold the floor of the oven.- Removed 2 nuts that held the igniter to the oven.- Removed the bottom drawer of the oven, and unplugged the igniter.- Finally, I screwed in the new igniter, fed the wire down to the plug and plugged it in.- Then I tested the oven before putting it back together, IT WORKED!)The only negative was, when I was removing the racks and pans from the oven, one of them happened to be filled with oil for frying, and it got all over me. Be prepared for anything when working on someone else's appliance.
Took bottom cover in oven off with screwdriver . Then remove two small bolts with socket to igniter , unplug from under stove and pull out from inside oven. Reverse to install. Wala done and working great.
removed the screws that held element in place, pulled out old igniter and replaced with new one.
Removed oven door and warming tray. Then removed two screws holding the igniter in place. Disconnect the plug visible below the oven after warming tray removal. Installed new igniter in reverse order.
I was sure happy that they thought to add in the ceramic wire nuts. This Hotpoint stove had a direct wire, no wire clips like the new part had. I cut the wires and used the enclosed ceramic wire nuts. The stove works great. Parts Select helped in locating the model number which made this transaction a smooth one. Thanks. Always remember to turn off gas line and unplug any item you work on.
Had to use the wire nuts because the plug did not fit.I used the old plug and spliced the wires. Thanks for the ceramic wire nuts.
I got my part in a couple of days during christmas and still got at pretty quick it was 5 screws unpluged the old one pluged in the new one put screws back and we were ready to cook, did all from inside the oven did not even move the stove very simple!!
Although the original oven design called for a round igniter, the most recent replacement, done by a service mechanic, utilized a flat igniter. I compared the appearance of this flat igniter to the igniters offered by PartSelect and found that the GE igniter (not the Roper which cost twice as much) matched exactly. I installed it and that solved the problem (of insufficient igniter heat to turn on the gas).
This repair was so easy!! I found the part we needed on line with no problem, then I found Parts Select, saved $20.00(honest!) The part was here in 2 days, I bought beer ,called my brother in law and from the call to the oven working was less than an hour. Didn"t break a nail,
