The microwave does not vent outside so it takes a chrcoal filter
Take 2 screws off on top of the microwave, remove the small grill, remove the old charcoal filter, replace it with the new one put the grill back on, that is it, very easy. I change the filter every 6 months.

Getting to the charcoal filter
Follow directions in the manuel, but getting the grill off to get to the where the filter goes was very difficult, the springs kept poping around. Finally got together. This is the 2nd time I have replaced this grill, don't remember it being this difficult before.

Charcoil filter needed to be changed.
GE microwave displayed the message that Charcoil Filter needs to be changed. I disconnected the unit and removed the top two screws then removed the top panel by sliding it gently to the left. Replaced the filter. And positioned it in the same way the old filter was installed. Replaced the top panel and screws, Connected the unit back and used the Menu option to reset the Charcoil Filter warning option.

Error message on readout said to change the filter
First I removed the two screws that held the filter cover in place, lifted out the old and replaced it with the new filter. Put the filter cover back on and replaced the two screws that hold it in place, and it was done in less than 5 minutes.

No carbon filter in vent and fan
Had to pry the front top of mircowave open and bend down and force this carbon filter in on an angle .Had to call several numbers for instructions. Very awkward and ridiculous to put carbon filter in-besides, it should have come with one to start with!!

New unit, had to use inside vent, filter not included
I went to your site and looked up the schematic parts list and determined how to remove the grill and install the filter. I had the grill off and when the filter arrived I put it in, replaced grill and screws and then in about 20 min had the microwave installed on the wall and operating. By the way the part arrived about three days earlier than estimated. Thanks for your prompt response. You are on my favorites list for future appliance parts.

Burnt out halogen bulbs and broken glass shield
I usually replace the charcoal filter in the Microwave one every 3 months. this light out looked confusing and complicated at first, however I was surprised how easy it was when you have proper tools and directions from fellow Do It Yourselfers.

Past time to replace
I unscrewed two screws on top of the microwave, slid the part (which opens when the microwave is in use) to the left and put it aside. The old filter is then easily picked up and removed. I placed the new filter in the same spot. I repositioned the removed part in place, lining up the little tabs, slid it to the right, which automatically lined up for replacement of the screws. These directions were included with the new filter and it was very easy to follow. I can't believe anyone would pay someone else to do this simple task! I am a 67 year old female.
