Blower Wheel with Clip

My dryer had two issues the FIRST: Sounded like a mack truck. That was a replacement of the roller wheels and pully wheel, they were worn down to their metal and that fixed that sound immediately. But then I was left with a sound that was clunky and sounded right at the beginning and made a big sound when the dryer ended. Turns out the blower wheel was completely worn down in the center so it wasn't gripping the metal rod designe to keep it in place, so it was flopping all over. TO FIX: UN PLUG MACHINE. UNSCREW the two screws in front and lift off front panel. Use a NUTDRIVER to unscrew the metal plate protecting the wires and then the front plate holding the blower wheel in place. USE E-CLIP WRENCH to undo the e-clip. USE NEEDLENOSED PLIERS to take off the retaining ring. TAKE OUT the wheel. CLEAN the entire area, wipe everything down and get rid of lint. REPLACE WITH NEW WHEEL, PUT ON NEW RETAINING CLIP and E-RING. Then put everything back together in REVERSE. Dryer runs more smoothly, shorter dry time, clothes are fluffier and it was simple, simple. FOR all the parts including this one I paid approx $50.00 total. That is still less than the fee for the repair man to come to your house just to LOOK for a problem!!!!! Also, I initially got parts from another store in town befor I discovered this site...they ended up having to order parts anyway and it was more expensive, this is the site to use!!!

repair went well, very fast delivery service, ordered Thursday, received Sat. morning.

tell everyone to check the blower wheel, it starts out as mid tapping but increases overtime, anything that bangs real loud, its the blower wheel

Removed front panel of the dryer. Removed front cover for the fan assembly. Remove snap ring, clamp holding fan assembly to drive shaft. Re-installed new fan, snap ring and clamp. Cleaned lint from fan area and re-assemblied. Also, replaced drum belt while apart. Very easy job.

I REMOVED THE OLD BLOWER, CLEANED ALL THE BUILT UP DIRT ETC AND REPLACED THE NEW BLOWER WHEEL. MUCH TO MY AMAZEMENT THE DRYER WORKS LIKE NEW AND NO MORE BANGING. I APPRECIATE THAT YOU HAD THE PART WE NEEDED AND IT ARRIVED SO QUICKLY. THANKS.

Watched the video on PartSelect website linked to replacing the part. followed the steps shown in the video. The only problem that I had was removing the spring retainer clip. Once I used the correctly sized pliers it came off the first time. Now the clanking noise is gone.

After struggling with increasing excessive noise emanating from the clothes dryer, the source of the problem was traced to the area near the electric motor. After some trial and error, access to the blower wheel area was possible. The blower wheel was found to “free-wheel” on the motor shaft which is obviously incorrect. The keyed area on the blower wheel was completely destroyed allowing
the motor shaft to spin freely in the keyway.

Removal of the blower wheel was straight forward although “E-ring” plier tool is necessary to remove the retaining ring. Finding the correct Manufacturers part number from on-line appliance sellers was somewhat a task as many types exist which look very similar. Note, look on the inside of the blower wheel and the number can be found stamped on the part.

Replacement of the blower wheel was not difficult however keeping the drum in position took some effort. I used spring clamps to keep the drum from slipping out of place.

End result is that I do not need to buy a new $$$ dryer much to the dismay of my wife. The unit sounds just like it did when it was first purchased.

I went online to your store and found it easy to identify the correct part and ordered the part which came right away. Thanks to your thorough online tutorial, I was able to easily replace the blower wheel within 30 minutes.

I pulled the plug and leaned the machine up against the wall so I could remove the front panel while sitting on a low stool. (After all when you're 85 you like to be comfortable.) I checked the rollers and the belt after removing the drum and found they looked good. After reading your list of probabilities the blower wheel was mentioned. Checking it I found that it spun freely on its shaft and did not have a flat on the hub to match the flat on the shaft. I ordered a new one from you and you said you would send it Monday. That was a Saturday or Sunday, I forgot, but I was sure surprised when Fed-X delivered it about 10:30 AM Tuesday. I went right to work putting it in in short order and the only problem I had was not knowing how to thread the belt around the pulley and the idler. I poked around a little more on the internet and low and behold I found a perfect picture of the belt mounted and so I managed to go to the back and eureka! I was done. I did lots of vacuuming lint while I had it open and so I'm almost happy I had a problem because now I know I have a clean, lint free machine. removed front screws to remove front cover. remove fan shroud. remove old blower fan w/ pliers. installed new fan and reassembled.

Disassembled via Video. Problem was the blower wheel "flat" which engages on motor shaft was worn away allowing blower wheel to spin on shaft. Installation of new wheel resolved problem. Replaced drum rollers but the orginals were probably OK. The flat was worn away over time due to startup torque (weak point in orginal design). A possible fix would be to drill and tap a hole in blower wheel to allow a set screw to engage with flat on motor shaft. A weak point in video is showing reinstallation of belt. There is a removable panel on back of dryer that allows access to motor / pully that needs to be used. Video did not mention.

parts came in very fast-2days. repairs were uncomplicated--dryer now runs well.

Our old dryer was making loud rumble noise while running. Was able to figure out problem by running dryer with front cover off. Isolated noise and than opened up blower and noticed wheel wobbled. The cool part was I ran a google search click on an ad (which I rarely do). Had such an easy site to use decided I would place an order. Placed order on Friday for ground and ended up getting order the next day on Saturday. Fixed later that night and wife says "sounds better then new".
