Broken door latch

Disconnect the power, open panel and remove screws with the exception of the two bottom ones. This allows the panel cover to be opened far enough to pull latch assembly clear.
Remove electrical contacts (2) and put defective unit aside. Connect new latch unit to both wire saddles, line up unit with proper holes and install two screws. Once fixed in place, install all other screws and switch power back on.Do a short test run to check for any leaks

Plastic handle broke, door would not latch shut

Turn off the DW power (pull the fuse or turn off the circuit breaker) Open the dishwasher door. Remove the torx screws around the periphery of the door inner panel. Lift up the inner panel far enough to get at the door latch. Lift out the entire door latch assembly. There are two wiring connectors attached to microswitches on the latch assemby. Remove the connectors. The connectors were pretty tight, so I needed pliers to pull the connectors off the switches. Discard the old latch. Get the new latch, and plug in the connectors (keep track of which wires go on which side). Lay the latch down in the door so it lines up with the mounting holes. Lay the cover back down, start each of the torx screws into their threaded holes, then tighten them all. Don't over tighten. Turn power back on. Job done. It almost takes as long to type it up as it does to make the repair.

Handle broke

Followed the suggestions on PartSelect - took off the screws on the door; removed 2 screws on the assembly that held it to the door; disconnected switches (hardest part) - they seem to fuse on(or rust) from the moisture; took the new (much sturdier part than original) assembly and plugged in the switches; set in place; replaced the 2 screws, replaced the screws holding the door panel - Complete - works great! Here we thought we would have to get a new dishwasher!!!!

Latch handle and snap on's for latch assy. Broken.

Disconnect power, remove inside cover from door, disconnect e-plugs from latch assy., remove latch assy., open cover of black box retaining printed circuit board, unplug e-connections from circuit board, remove Panel Control and replace with new panel, reconnect e-connections to circuit board, replace cover on black box, snap in new latch assy. and connect the two e-plugs to it, put inside door cover back on. Power up dishwasher and test its functions. Done.

PS: It wasn't really nessesary to replace the control panel (a $72.00) item, those plastic snap on's are not needed to secure the latch assy. They just hold it in place unil you put the screws back in which secure the inside door cover.

Door latch assembly broke

Remove all the screws around the inside panel and separated by size and location. There are two larger screws for the bottom two holes. Marked the electrical connectors for location on the latch assembly. Also marked the top of the two microswitchs for easier reattachment. Removed the microswitchs with the needle-nose pliers and attached to the new assembley. Reattached electrical connectors and the plastic panel.

Door latch was broken and wouldn't close properly.

I removed about 10 screws on the back of the door and the latch came out with the assembly.I then took a pair of pliers to remve the wires from the prongs on the back of the latch. The wires were a little hard to remove because of the age of the dishwasher. The new latch went right on in less than a minute.Relaced the screws and turned the dishwasher on.

Door wouldn't stay latched close

I removed 11 Torx screws from inside of the door, pulled inside and outside apart just enough to lift out the latch assembly. (It was held in place by 2 of the 11 screws already removed) i Pulled the 2 switch connectors off and left the door open a bit. After some Googling I found the COMPLETE part on your web site for the lowest cost! The picture showed that it even INCLUDED THE NEWER REINFORCED HANDLE. I ordered it on a CC with basic shipping on 10/12 AT 8 PM. It arrived 10/15 and I installed that same day in about 15 minutes. THANK YOU!

Latch handle failed

The repair was easy but you need a star driver. They didn't use Phillips or slot screws. I took all the screws off the inside of the door and the latch was easily revealed. It replaced easily, and the new one works fine. All I can say is - the latch assembly was made of plastic at some stress points. The design engineer should be shot. These should have been metal. I noted in the new latch assembly, they have improved the design but it's still plastic. A few more cents in manufacturing would prevent this failure. I expected more of Maytag in terms of design integrity. But, it's the only failure I've had with the unit.
