The dishwasher door handle was tight / broken

I ordered the part online. It was super easy after I entered the model number of the dishwasher. There is video online on this website which shows how to do the repair. It took me less than 10 minutes to change of the defective part. I switched off the current to the dishwasher from the main fuse box before I started to change the part .Total cost of the repair was only $28.66 (shipping included). Very happy with the super fast FEDEX delivery. The part arrived on the third day of my order. Many thanks to 'Partselect' company.Highly recommended.

Broken door latch

Since there wasn't any instuctions that came with the part, reading about how others fixed the latch made it was easier. Without that input it would have been very difficult to do.

Original handle cracked and broke

First shut off power to appliance - then unscrewed 11 torx screws on backside of door. Once screw were removed the panel seperates into two pieces very easily. Quickly located front handle assembly - sits essentially in a pre-formed mold so it lifted right out. Detached two leads from old handle - needed needle nose pliers for this as they slide off each side. Make sure you pay attention to which side goes where with the wires - in this case it was one side black and the other white. Once the old handle removed - just slide wire leads on appropriate sides of handle and place handle assembly back in. Before attaching wires make sure handle is facing right direction. Put panels back together and put 11 torx screws back in to secure panels together. Tested handle - worked great. Restored power to dishwasher and tested handle again with washer running. Door opening should interupt cycle. All checked out well - dishwasher is back in operation. Total time for fix was about 20-30 minutes. Easiest appliance reapir I have ever done being an experienced handyman.

CustomerRoger from Lyman ME

Door was very dificult to open

The latch mounting clips built into the door were broken causing the latch not to fully release. once I got the door open the rest of the repair was very easy.
I had to take the interior panel of the door of so I could find out what parts I needed.
Once I had the parts it only took about 15 minutes to install them. The hardest thing to do was install the flimsy power tape into the connecter by hand. ( I am sure that they must make a special tool that supports the end of the tape to do this.)

A very simple repair.

Handle broke on latch assy

Removed internal screws on door assy. Removed defective latch assy.

Removed connectors from switches and reinstalled on new switches. Reinstalled Latch complete assy reinstalled screws and tested.

Problem: be aware, Switch connectors have internal latch locks that prevent them from inadvertantly falling off switches. Finally after trying different tools used thin jewelers screwdriver to depress internal lock device to release internal latch. Had to cut off switch connectors contacts to do one at a time. I know that there is a special tool for this, but I did not have one on hand.
Alls well that ends well.

Dishwasher wasn't getting dishes clean and was leaving food debris.

Removed the screws that held the spray arm. Remove dthe screws that held the flow filter flow plate assembly. Removed screw holding the impeller. Thoroughly cleaned all spray arms and associated tubing. Reassembled parts. Installed air gap assembly between dishwasher and garbage disposal (which I should have 4 years ago). Unit runs fine now.

Door handle broke

The door latch handle on the Maytag is very cheap and it broke, but you can't simply buy the handle to replace it, you have to buy the entire "latch assembly" which is about 4x the cost. There is a reason for this, the handle uses a metal bar to attach to the latch assembly and it is much better than the original all plastic part that broke. The handle also comes pre attached to the latch assembly. I also purchased a new control panel because the back (inside) of the control panel has two plastic clips that the back of the latch assembly clips into. The original plastic clips on my original control panel broke, therefore I had to replace it. Since the latch assembly both screws into the door as well as snaps into the back of the control panel I probably could have gotten away without spending the $50 to replace the control panel...the 2 screws seem like they are sufficient enough to hold down the latch assembly. The only problem I had with this entire job, which is super easy by the way was plugging in the control panel to the white control board. That's what took me so long, and I only found out the solution by reading the feedback on this site!!!

So listen closely in case you run into the same problem: The control panel plugs into the white control box by way of a flat plastic electrical strip. It plugs into a square receptical in the control box. The top of the square receptical actually slides from front to back. You pull back on the square slider to loosen it up and allow the old flat plastic electrical strip to come out. Plug in the new one, then slide the plastic square forward to tighten it up. Without tighening up the slider, the control panel will not function properly. This was my problem for a couple hours until I read this site to find the solution. I hope this helps out other people! Good luck, it's a really easy fix!
