Handle to dishwasher was broken.

Not bad at all. Took inside door panel off. Removed broken part. A little tricky to remove/replace the electric nodes. Decided to use the old ones rather than using the new ones that came with the part. Just easier than removing wires. Put door back together with new handle in place. Good to go...

The handle/latch had broken

You need to unscrew the inside door liner with a Torx screwdriver; once the door is unscrewed, you can pry it up and prop it up so you can get to the latch assembly (there are several wired connections you can't unhook easily - but you don't need to so it doesn't really matter). Oh yeah, you might want to make sure the power is turned off at the breaker. The latch assembly pulls right out but I could not get the power plugs to come loose from the prongs, so I just used the switches that were on the old switch; simply pry the little clips holding them off and remove the little switches. If you didn't turn the power off, make sure you don't touch the plugs. Put the latch back in place; make sure the old handle isn't still in the handle area; I didn't check and it was still there; I put it all back together and it didn't work. Took it apart, took broken handle out. Redid; worked great.

Plastic of latch broke making it impossible to open and close the door

The door was open when the latch broke or we would not have been able to get into the dishwasher to repair it. We had to purchase a star-shaped screwdriver. Lowe's had one for about $7. After switching off the breaker, we removed the inner door panel to access the latch. The old latch was very difficult to remove, but finally came free with perseverance, two pairs of pliers and a lot of elbow grease. The new latch plugged right in with no problem. We replaced the door panel, turned the breaker back on and the dishwasher worked just like new.

Handle broke

First shut off the power to the dishwasher at the circuit breaker. Removed the torq screws on the inner door. Disconnected the old part and hooked up the new part. Took longer to unscrew and screw the door back on then to replace the part. Works like new.

Latch broke

Well, first I took the screws off of the door. Inside the door was the latch. It was broken. I decided to put a new latch in there. But the interesting part is what we did while we waited for the new part to come. Since the latch was broken, I set it to the closed position by poking it with a screwdriver. Then I tucked the broken latch down inside the door out of the way. So essentially the dishwasher thought that the door was always closed. This would work fine for a while, except after a few days it would stop working. I think that the dishwasher might have thought that noone was taking the clean dishes out, and it decided that they must be pretty clean after about 20 wash cycles. I dont know for sure because it wasnt really talking. It might have been upset with me for tricking it, I'm not sure. But anyway, we had to put a towel on the floor cuz the door would leak a little bit without a proper latch. Also, we would have to unplug it when it stopped working. This would reset it and it would think that it was in a brand new home, washing dishes for a new family. It would happily do this until, once again, the door thingy. Maybe it felt as if, becuase we never took the dishes out, that we did not appreciate its efforts to clean our dishes. Or, maybe, it thought that we were on vacation. We did consider getting a new dishwasher, but, its has been a good dishwaher, except that the latch is on the 3rd redesign that I am aware of. The latest redesign uses a rotating mechanism that is more gentle than the previous snapping mechanism. While, we were waiting for the new part I had a birthday. I got ballons and a card, and we went out to dinner. The hose on the dishwasher I have always thought is a little thin, but its hasnt leaked yet. So the new latch mechanism is better. The first redesign made the parts stonger but it still put a lot of strain on the latch because of the snapping action. Rotation is much better, it may even utilize a cam-over geometry, Im not sure. But we did get some new dishes too in the meantime. I dont know if that made any difference. Cus ya know the impact energy can impart a much higher strain, possibly exceeding the yield strength, whereas the cam-over geometry can be limted and precicely controlled. Then I when I got the new latch, I put it in the door the way it is supposed to go. Then I put the screws on.

Cheap plastic pivots on the door handle broke

Removed cover. Took out the old handle/switch assembly and related broken plastic pieces about the door enclosure. The new handle/switch assembly has a steel rod in place of the cheap plastic pivots. Removed connectors to limit switches. Put new assembly in place of the old one. Screwed the cover back on. Washed dried chilli encrusted bowls. They got clean.

Door latch assembly broken

After shutting off the power to the unit I removed the torx head screws that hold the inner panel to the door. Next I disconnected the two plugs that attach to the microswitches on the handle. I then installed the new assembly and attached the two plugs to it. Then re-installed the inner panel. Done!

The door latch was broken

First I turned off the power to the dishwasher. Then I removed the 11 screws form the inside of the door panel. The inside door panel will lift up for easy access to the latch assembly. Remove the latch assy. I purchased the latch assembly with the switches. You will need a needle nose pliers to remove the 4 wires. Install the wires on the new switches and put the new latch assy in place. Set the inside panel back on the outside panel and install the screws. Turn the power back on and you're done. Took about 15 minutes start to finish. Probably saved around $200. Piece of cake!

Plastic door handle broken

Parts arrived quickly. Diagram and part numbers are confusing which caused a second order for the correct part-the handle attached to the switch assembly as one unit. It costs less than the sans handle assembly.
Installation quick and easy-remove door panel screws-set panal aside. No need to remove soap dispencer connection as there is enough wireing slack to get the panel out of the way. Remove wire clips from micro switches-note location of each pigtail and remove broken handle/assembly. Install new assembly and put all back together.

Broken latch assembly

Took the hex screws out that hold the inside cover on the door of the dishwasher. It exposes the latch assembly. (OH YEAH, TURN THE POWER OFF. UNPLUG, OF POSSIBLE, TURN FUSE BOX SWITCH OFF..CAN"T BELIEVE I FORGOT AND GOT I NICE LITTLE JOLT) Undo the two wire leads attached to the latch assembly. Put the new assembly in (Now it comes fully assembled) attach the wire leads, screw it back in and it's done. Piece of cake. Even the cust service rep was aware of this part..."oh yeah THAT piece". Guess they've had tons of problems with this part. But the price was right and install was absolutely no problem. I'll buy here again.

The latch was broken and we replaced it

Power to the dishwasher was turned off from the fuse box. The dishwasher door was disassembled by removing the screws. The broken latch assembly was removed and the wires connected to it was also disconnected. The new latch assembly was put in place and the electrical wires were attached to the new assembly. The dishwasher door was then reassembled and it's all done. To about 5 minutes total to do it.

Latch broken on dishwasher door

1. Turned off power to dishwasher at the fuse box.

2. Removed all screws on inside of dishwasher door and had my lovely red head hold open the door cover, so I could see the latch assembly inside the door.

3. Removed old latch assembly and used pliers to remove (pull) connectors from old latch assembly.

4. plugged connectors into new latch assembly and place it in it's proper position.

5. Had my wonderful bride put the door cover down, so I could install the screws.

6. After screws installed I turned on the power and tried the dishwasher. IT WORKED PERFECTLY!!!

Took me about 10 minutes. Most of that time was spent removing the screws and running back an forth between the kitchen and electical panel to turn off and turn on electricity.

New latch assembly < $30.00
New dishwasher > $800.00
Saved > $770.00 and my sanity.
Got to bond with my wife and show her my manly mechanical prowess...Priceless!!!!
