Door latch handle broke

Unplugged the dishwasher. I used a "star" bit to remove screws on the inner door panel. Two of these screws also held the door latch assembly in place. The new latch assembly came with two microswitches but I had difficulty removing the wires from the old assembly so I unsnapped the old microswitches & put them in place of the new ones. The mounting holes in the new latch assembly lined up perfectly so there was no problem replacing the inner door panel.

Note: I noticed that the design of the new latch was improved over the one I removed. My old latch broke at the plastic pivot point. The new latch was mounted on a metal rod which is substantially stronger.

Door latch broke

Isolated the dishwasher at the fuse panel. Unscrewed 9 screws (inside of the front drop-down door) which automatically released the broken latch. Unplugged the two electric male connections connecting the door latch assembly. Connected new handle and door latch assembly. Re-inserted the 9 screws on inner side of front drop-down door.

Door latch handle was broken

The door latch handle on my Maytag MDB6700 AWW dish washer appeared to be loose and possibly broken. I removed the inner door cover to check it out and found that two plastic tabs on the latch had broken off. That was the problem. I got on line, found the part and ordered it on Sep. 23. I was a little apprehensive that it would be the right part. I was shocked when it arrived on Sep. 25 after only two days. I never expected it so to arrive so quickly. The new part had steel where the plastic tabs that broke were, so I don't ever expect to have this problem again. I put in the replacement part and replaced the door panel and it is working perfectly. I am completely satisfied.

Broken latch

Unplug the machine from the AC power! Remove the screws around the inside perimeter of the door. On my dishwasher these reqire a torx bit. Using pliers carefully pull the wires off their terminals on the latch assembly. Note which ones go to the left and right of the latch assembly. Mine had a black mark that was to face outward on each wire connector. Position the latch assembly, and lay the panel back in position noting the seal at the bottom. Replace the screws (don't overtighten)and you're done!

Door latch was broken. Anticipated being unable to open dishwasher door in very near future.

Turned off power. Removed interior door panel of dishwasher by unscrewing screws (required allen wrench/hex key.) Instructions with replacement part indicated that I should use a needle-nosed plier to unplug the old latch and replug new one. Was unable to "unplug" the tines from the old latch. So, I removed the entire plug/socket unit on each side of the old latch, and placed them on new latch (saved new parts for future use if I can ever figure out how to remove prongs from old part.) Situated handle/latch in place and re-installed interior door.

Door handle on dishwasher broke, worn filter on dryer

First off, I have to give credit to PartSelect.com for fast delivery. I had the parts two days after I ordered them.

The repair was very quick and easy. There are about 10 Torx head screws holding the inner panel to the door so I decided to use an electric drill to remove and put them back. I put the proper size Torx driver into my portable electric drill and removed all of the screws in less than 2 minutes. The door latch assembly is secured with two of those door screws, so it was already loose when I lifted the panel away from the door. All I had to do was unplug the two wire harness's from the old switch, replace with a new switch and plug them back in. The door panel went back on easily and quickly with the electric drill. My drill has a built-in torque adjuster so I set it to lightly secure the screws which made the job go fast.

The lint filter was just a replacement for an older one on the cloths dryer that had developed holes in it. Perfect fit.

Dishwasher would run for a few minutes and then shut-off

It seemed like a control unit problem to me, something in the board. It was basically a guess, every once in awhile you get lucky. I took off the inner panel for the door (shut power off to unit!) Removed the control board screws, released tabs on harness connector and changed board out. It works fine now. Rather be lucky than good any day.

Latch broke

Well, first I took the screws off of the door. Inside the door was the latch. It was broken. I decided to put a new latch in there. But the interesting part is what we did while we waited for the new part to come. Since the latch was broken, I set it to the closed position by poking it with a screwdriver. Then I tucked the broken latch down inside the door out of the way. So essentially the dishwasher thought that the door was always closed. This would work fine for a while, except after a few days it would stop working. I think that the dishwasher might have thought that noone was taking the clean dishes out, and it decided that they must be pretty clean after about 20 wash cycles. I dont know for sure because it wasnt really talking. It might have been upset with me for tricking it, I'm not sure. But anyway, we had to put a towel on the floor cuz the door would leak a little bit without a proper latch. Also, we would have to unplug it when it stopped working. This would reset it and it would think that it was in a brand new home, washing dishes for a new family. It would happily do this until, once again, the door thingy. Maybe it felt as if, becuase we never took the dishes out, that we did not appreciate its efforts to clean our dishes. Or, maybe, it thought that we were on vacation. We did consider getting a new dishwasher, but, its has been a good dishwaher, except that the latch is on the 3rd redesign that I am aware of. The latest redesign uses a rotating mechanism that is more gentle than the previous snapping mechanism. While, we were waiting for the new part I had a birthday. I got ballons and a card, and we went out to dinner. The hose on the dishwasher I have always thought is a little thin, but its hasnt leaked yet. So the new latch mechanism is better. The first redesign made the parts stonger but it still put a lot of strain on the latch because of the snapping action. Rotation is much better, it may even utilize a cam-over geometry, Im not sure. But we did get some new dishes too in the meantime. I dont know if that made any difference. Cus ya know the impact energy can impart a much higher strain, possibly exceeding the yield strength, whereas the cam-over geometry can be limted and precicely controlled. Then I when I got the new latch, I put it in the door the way it is supposed to go. Then I put the screws on.

Latch handle on door broke.

I dissassembled the door assembly by removing the inner liner to gain access to the latch assembly. Once the door liner had been revoved and simply disconnecting two electrical leads the latch assembly was removed quite easily from the door. After inspecting the latch assembly I determined that the plastic latch had broken off on one side rendering the entire latch assembly inoperative. I ordered a replacement latch which arrived in 3 days by one of the common carriers. After opening the shipping container I was suprised that the entire assembly including the latch had been shipped. Having replaced the latch before due to an identical problem with the design, I was assuming a difficult time replacing the latch into the assembly. Not only was I suprised that the entire assembly was enclosed but that the replacement had been redesigned into a single assembled unit with metal vs plastic latch pivor points. With the new assembly in hand it took less than 30 minutes to replace the assembly and button up the entire job. A very pleasant suprise (thanks to the completed latch assembly) for what I had anticipated would have been a troubling repair job.

CustomerMonty from Las Vegas NV

The filter was dirty so the dishes came out dirtier than when I put them in.

Called a repairman, watched him take apart the base where the filter is. Took about 8 screws.
Told him the handle was broken. Asked him what he had to do to take out the handle. He told me all the screws around the inside of the door. Then he told me it was $284.00 to fix it. Thought about buying a new one, then went online to Partsselect.com. Talked with a tech, ordered the filter and the handle. Put the filter in and put back in the 7-8 screws. Then I put in the latch. It plugs into the main board with 2 wires that just slip back in. Took a little to snap the handle into place because I was afraid I would break it, but it's pretty tough. Put back in the screws around the door and it has worked fine since then. Note on screws: They are the funny shaped ones that fit the screwdriver or drill bit in sets that no one thinks they will ever use. By the way the parts cost about $50. with overnight shipping. Saved $230.00 for a half hour of my time.
