This kit comes with three separate thermal fuses and is usually used with clothes dryers that have a fan mounted on the motor shaft. Included within this kit is the high limit (Limit: 258) the gas high limit (Limit: 240) and the gas and electric high limit thermostat (Limit: 300).
This part works with the following brands: Whirlpool, Admiral, Estate, Inglis, Kenmore, KitchenAid, Roper, Maytag, Crosley, Jenn-Air, Hardwick, Magic Chef, Amana, Caloric & Glenwood.
This part fixes the following symptoms:
This high limit/safety thermostat is used on many gas and electric clothes dryers. It is made of metal, and is almost two inches long. With this thermostat, a dryer's heating element will cut out if the internal temperature reaches 258 degrees Fahrenheit. The element will kick back in when the temperature drops to 178 degrees Fahrenheit.
Followed the diagram posted on this website to remove and replace the high limit thermal sensor and thermal fuse. My husband thinks I'm a genius, but it really was easy or I couldn't have done it.PS - Don't forget to try to fix what caused the fuse to blow in the first place - in my case it was years of lint build-up.

used the tips found on this site, cannot state it any better than that. For $50, for parts and 1 day shipping, it was well worth it. Put in new parts and started right up.
Used key tip to open dryer lid. Used an ohm meter to check door siwtch and fuses; found thermal limit fuse open. Took photo of wiring for reference. Disconnected heat element and fuses. Removed temp sensor from above element and removed screw retaining heater. Needle nose pliers used to remove clip which retains thermal fuse. Replaced thermal fuse with matching color coded dot (purple) and reinstalled clip. Check the seating of clip and fuse, this is an important safety feature. Put element back in place and checked that retaining screw properly secured clip/fuse. Replaced temp sensor with new unit and reinstalled over heater. Connected wiring and used ohm meter to check for shorts to chasis. Verified all connections secure and no loose wire clips. Closed lid, plugged unit into AC and runs perfect. This is a good time to check all lint traps, housing, and duct work for excess lint. Clogged ducts can cause fire an run unit longer than needed to dry clothes. Partselect.com is by far the best repair parts site.
My husband raised up the top of the dryer and removed the heating coil and fuse w/bracket. Installed new fuse in that one. He then proceeded to go further down into the dryer and found the bracket with the other 2 fuses. He replaced those. Put all parts back together. Cleaned out all the built up lint. Plugged it in and it works like the day it was new. Your comment section and video repair clip of this was tremendous in helping us determine what our problem was. About $35.00 total for this repair. Thank you
After viewing the video and looking at the problem at hand, it was relatively easy to simply replace the parts. At first I wasn't really sure this was the problem, but I figured, if it worked, then it cost me about $30, so it was worth the chance. Otherwise it would have been a new dryer. Hey, it worked, and the video made it easy. The only somewhat difficult part was maneuvering around some of the sharp, edgy parts of the machine. I dropped a screw and used an extension magnet to pick it up. Overall, it was easy. Thanks for the help.
I have no knowlegde about electrical repair.I just read all problems and video on how to repair this dryer. So dryer won't start ,Ichange the timer assembly, resistor and the last one is high limit kit.I follow all instruction and remove the defective parts one by one ,piece by piece while looking on the pc for instruction to repair it.Less than 30 minutes I'm done.Thank you part select for your tutorial on line that save me money to buy a new one.Now my dryer run smooth as new one...Bingo.
Followed the video instructions online - very easy repair and saved me some money.
I read the repair instructions on the site and watched the video. I followed someone else's suggestion and took the front of the dryer down to clean out the area below the lint trap. I know why the fuse blew! Then I was able to replace the fuse and the high limit fuse. Let me tell you, the instructions are really easy - I'm a 43 year old woman and my 4 1/2 year old son was helping me. We managed to fix the dryer before Daddy got home! Thank you!
IMPORTANT!!! Before doing this repair I had already replaced thermal fuse kit and the dryer worked for a few days but the fuses blew again. After digging deeper I realized the fuses were blowing because there was too much lint disturbing the air flow behind the lint catcher on the FRONT panel. Found instructions on Parts select to remove front panel and clean that area leading into the blower fan. I followed instructions and then replaced the thermal fuse kit and the dryer has since been working normally.
I went to the part selects website, put my dryers part number into the "find your part" field,,, on the next page i clicked on my symptom "will not start",, next page pops up with what part is bad and a video of a repairman actually doing the repair step by step (very cool). I purchased the recommended part, got the parts in a couple of days and did the repair myself,"fantastic". I love this website, I saved a lot of money in repairs and saved a lot of my time bringing it too and from the repair shop. I will recommend this website to all of my friends. Jimmy
After replacing these parts (VERY EASY!) my dryer is back online. As a mechanic/oilfield/trucker, I don't have time to mess around with this kind of stuff. My husband wanted to take the credit here.....lol. THANK YOU!
I googled issue, and partselect.com came up with their thermostat kit as the solution. After following the youtube video on the part page, my dryer was fixed for less than $35!
I followed the instructions outlined in the install video provided by PartSelect. As Steve mentioned in the video, it is an easy repair, and following his instructions made it even easier. Finding PartSelect when I googled the dryer's problem was a God-sent. PartSelect provided not just the parts and repair instructions, but the necessary info to properly diagnose the trouble with my dryer. You can bet I will be referring all my friends to PartSelect.com when they need to service their appliances.
watched the video and decided to order the kit and try it. It was easier to do than I expected. Thought I was going to spend alot on a repairman or purchase a new dryer. Bought the kit, it arrived in 3 days and 15 min later, the dryer was running again.
I looked for tips on maytag electric dryer startup issues. After seeing that 80% of the problem was High Limit Kit replacement I ordered the kit and installed the kit with included instructions and online info. It took 20 minutes to do and the dryer is back in business. Thanks for the fast delivery of the parts and great price for the solution to the problem.
